Mouth Sores (Definition)

A canker sore is a painful, open sore in the mouth. Canker sores are white or yellow and surrounded by a bright red area. They are benign (not cancer). Canker sores can run in families. Have a pea size bump on tongue.a bit brown and hurts. Should I be concerned and yes I am a smoker?

Lesion on tongue: It could be an inflamed taste bud. Anything that is inflamed will turn brown due to the smoking itself. I would have an ENT check it to make sure it is nothing. Do not worry, it does not seem that big by your description. If you need larger removal, the worst case scenario, it may not affect your speech and swallowing. The sooner your check it the sooner you will not worry about it. Feel better! ...Read more

I got a hard bump on the roof of my mouth and then it was soft and slightly painfull pus came out of it and it healed now its back same place. Herpes?

I got a hard bump on the roof of my mouth and then it was soft and slightly painfull pus came out of it and it healed now its back same place. Herpes?

Mouth pustule: The fact that your roof of mouth hard bump softened and drained pus argues strongly for a pustule (bacterial infection) rather than a herpetic sore. But then again the fact that you now have the bump back again in the same area makes recurrent herpetic sores a possibility. You should see your internist so that the sore can be visualized and treated. ...Read more

I had a single small red/white bump on soft palate for a couple days and its gone. In HIV mouth sores, would there only be one or would it be more?

More than one likely: There are more than one type or mouth sores usually related to hiv. Most have more to do with being immunosupressed- like candidiasis (ulcers caused by yeast infections), cold and herpetic ulcers as well as leukoplakia ("hairy tounge"). The onset of a single small lesion that has healed is not an indicator that you have contracted hiv. If you are still fearful, the best remedy is testing. ...Read more

My boyfriend has some red spots on the penis, which are not bumps, no pus filled and are patchy. No itching. I have itching around my mouth. HSV?

Doubt herpes. Yeast?: This description doesn't sound at all like herpes. I would be more suspicious of a yeast (Candida) infection, especially if his red spots are on the head of the penis and he is uncircumcised.
