If it's strep & you wait any longer, you're increasing the chances of streptococcal complications which include rheumatic heart disease. It may be as simple as a Rx for penicillin to treat your illness, but w/o being seen by a Dr. there's no way to know. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Slightly swollen right tonsil 7-8 days. No fever, white patches, or cold symptoms. Painful sore throat days 1-3, now mildly uncomfortable, but worse at night.
Sounds like tonsilli: your description sound like it is viral. suggest warm salt water gargles, and drink a lot of fluids, and suspect it will resolve in a few days. if it persists, or you develop fever or you do get some white patches on the throat/tonsils, then strep needs to be ruled out. there are also other bacteria that can cause a pharyngitis or tonsillitis. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
