White Patches In Throat
White patches: Hello, the white patches in the back of your throat sound like tonsilliths. These are food particles that get stuck in the tonsil tissues. They harden and make your tonsils look like they are infected. Under these tonsil pimples is a cavity or crevice that may be inflamed and infected. Gargle with water after every meal. This helps to clear these white pimples. Also see your doctor. ...Read more
Is it normal swelling after a wisdom extraction to feel hard and start to stretch sown the outside of your neck? Also have white patches in throat?
Post Op symptoms: Since every surgery and every individual is different, along with the fact that we can't actually examine you, we can't know for sure what if what you describe is normal it not. The white patches may or may not be related to the surgery. What you describe certainly warrants you contacting the surgeon and having him\her see you right away for an evaluation. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Monilia: You probably are having fungal overgrowth as a result of recent antibiotic treatment. A less likely cause would be mononucleosis. Tonsils post-infx: It sounds like the infection cleared up ok (azithromycin is not my favorite drug for strep, it works ok), but you have more concern about chronic changes present in your tonsils and that is what is likely affecting your ear as well. If this is a one time thing, i'd give it another 4-8 weeks as long as you're feeling ok. If you have had chronic problems with recurrent tonsil/throat, time to see ent. ...Read more
How to tell a cold from strep throat? Do you always have a fever with strep? Will there be white patches on throat? I have a cough and sore throat.

Even physicians have a difficult time distinguishing between strep and viral infection based on history alone. Please see a primary care physician for a thorough physical exam and also a strep test for a definitive diagnosis ...Read more

So much going on...: There is so much going on your child needs reexamination. A 2-year old with 4 days of 103 fever while already on antibiotics requires urgent reassessment. It is my concern at best that the oral antibiotic may require changing; at worst, your toddler may require IV fluids and IV antibiotics--if the UTI is actually pyelonephritis, a serious kidney infection. White patches may be thrush or stomatitis. ...Read more
