It depends: Usually these types of findings are nonspecific, and most likely age related. They are generally asymptotic and there is no treatment. Occasionally they are a sign of other disorders, so speak to your physician to decide whether there is any follow up needed. ...Read more

White Matter (Definition)

White matter is one of the two components of the central nervous system and consists of glial cells and myelinated axons that transmit signals from one region of the cerebrum to another and between the cerebrum and lower brain centers. White matter tissue of the freshly cut brain appears pinkish white to the naked eye because myelin is composed largely of lipid ...Read more

10 months numbness in left leg physical therapy said coming from neon in brain, mri show white matter in pon. Seeing neurology in big city help?

Listen to your doc: We can't really interpret this for you, but you clearly have a concerned physician who wants a followup study to explain your symptoms and something abnormal on the first MRI. That person cares about you and is doing the right thing to find out what is going on. Good luck to you! ...Read more

What can brain lesion and white matter changes mean in Sjögren's and lupus. Numbness, confusion, tremor, headache, off balance, weakness, brain fog, brainzaps?

See your neurologist: Without looking at your actual brain scan, it's impossible to tell with certainty the cause or significance of an abnormality. Lupus cerebritis can put white spots on the brain. More importantly, how are lupus and Sjogren's affecting your daily life? The key is improving your quality of life, not treating the appearance of your brain scan. Good luck! ...Read more

Ischemic Brain: Not likely. At your age, the vascualr ischemia is more apt to be due to chronic high blood pressure or diabetes. It is important to follow up on this with your doctor to avoid small lesions called "lacunar" infarcts. Often, medication can be prescribed which will improve your micro vascualr integrity and avoid further damage. ...Read more

I have an Mri Bc of dizziness and seizer & numbness 24 f. Discovered foci increased signal in subcortical white matter & chronic sinuous. Ms?

MS is a clinical: Diagnosis, so even a normal appearing brain MRI can't absolutely rule it out. However, typically there are characteristic white matter lesions in the periventricular white matter, not solely the subcortical white matter. So generally speaking, subcortical white matter lesions without periventricular lesions are not the classic pattern seen in MS. ...Read more

I had a brain tumor removed Dec of last year, it was the size of a fist. It has left me with some numbness on the left side of my body, and heaviness.

Recovery: You are fortunate that removing the tumor did not lead to paralysis (if the tumor was on the other side, it could have taken away your speech too). Recovery can take many months for the first noticeable improvements, but with work and ongoing physical therapy, you may see gradual improvement that can continue for years. Good luck! ...Read more

Long term numbness on left side eyesight blurry. Been over a year now symptoms getting worse more numbness earache what could it be? Brain MRI clear

Need a long-term doc: Your condition sounds serious. You should establish care with a doctor who can follow your symptoms & guide you appropriately (perhaps whoever ordered the MRI?). Alternatively, use HealthTap Prime. Since the MRI, I assume, is negative, thoughts of a complicated Migraine and Temporal Arteritis come to mind. Other tests (mainly clinical exam) establish these conditions - won't show up on Radiology. ...Read more

After whiplash in 09, I started getting tinitus right away along with these brain spells. Left side of tongue goes numb and my behaviour changes 24/7?

Behavior changes: Behavior changes may be due to post-concussive syndrome, I recommend you visit with a physician and make sure to mention what type of behavior changes you have as well as your other symptoms. It might actually help to have a friend/family member with you who may be able to describe the behavior changes better than yourself. ...Read more

Face tingling left side what could this b I'm 21 years old concerned CT of the brain 1 wk ago was normal lil numbness?

Focal tingling: Glad that cat reassuring, and might suggest that most symptoms like yours tend to be very benign. Tingling over the face can be seen as a migraine equivalent if it lasts only a short time, but have seen irritation of the trigeminal nerve due to dental, jaw, and sinus problems. Maybe, best initial evaluation with your dentist. ...Read more

Cyst: Without having seen the images, I can only talk in general. White areas on MRI are commonly cysts or fatty tumors. These are benign and not to worry about. Occasionally, a white area can be a cancer or infection but this is easily differentiated from a cyst or lipoma. Your doctor should be able to tell the difference from the pictures. ...Read more

I'm worried about a brain tumour. I get left side numbness, . Sickness. Dizziness. Headaches. Confusion. And possibly seizures. I'm not really sure?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity at tolerated.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Get a new consult: You mention sensory complaints that follow half the body and face-same side without finding a structural cbause.

The symptoms are not progressive-worse, but same for several years-reassuring.
There are no other systems involved?
There is no underlying disease or injury?
Maybe all tests done is not an answer and requires a comprehensive neurology evaluation.

Do brain tumor symptoms change if you change position? Having dizziness, numbness, slight headache for a week. Laying on R side makes left arm numb.

Almost certainly not: The symptoms you describe are much more like to be caused by a) pressure on the nerves in your arm, b) pressure on the blood vessels in you arm, or c) pressure on the nerves in your neck, going to that arm.

Brain tumours usually present with seizures and/or weakness which doesn't go away. ...Read more
