However, they can also be there in large numbers in a female when there is a vaginal infection or when she is having her period (always see red cells also in this situation). Cholestasis ?: As long as the majority of your stools are brown and not whitish, you shouldn't have to worry about cholestasis. If this does occur, you will need to get a GI doctor to evaluate the small bowel, gall bladder, and biliary tree/liver for signs of insufficiency or failure. Vaginal infections: Inflammation of the genital area can be caused by other microbes such as fungi ("yeast"). There are many varieties and many can produce a "thick white discharge" and of course inflammation which can cause urinary frequency and discomfort in the vaginal area. Cultures of urine are negative for bacterial growth, but "yeast" are not generally detected in this way. See your healthcare professional. ...Read more

No periods: If you have been sexually active (even with contraception), check a pregnancy test. Most common reason for missing periods is pregnancy. If negative, then the irregular blood tissue may be taking the place of your period for this month. Dark brown urine is usually a sign of dehydration, so drink more water.
