Sialocele: It's quite common to have a blocked minor salivary gland which will fill with a clear mucus material. They can spontaneously rupture and then recur. Sometimes they can be treated with cauterizing or silver nitrate in the office with your ENT specialist. They usually are of no major concern or significance. 10yr old son had tonsils out Tuesday today he only took a few tiny sips of water. How much fluids does he need to not become dehydrated?

Fluid requirements..: Are calculated by weight, especially in children. If your son isn't starting to feel better and drink more, you should be contacting the surgeon directly for guidance. I only have 1 tonsil. Every now & then will get a sore throat. Tonsil leaks fluid & has puss balls. Any thoughts?

Surgery?: It is highly unlikely you only have one tonsil. Most likely the other tonsil is so small, it can not be visualized. If the tonsil that you see has pus and infection, you may consider a culture and sensitivity for an appropriate antibiotic. The indication for tonsil surgery is 3-4 episodes of documented tonsillitis in a year. ...Read more

Lead to Eustachian Tube dysfunction again. Tonsils, even if kissing, aren't removed unless severely inflamed/malignant ...Read more

Swallowed fluid down wrong hole. Mouth was full of soda, felt like I had to cough it all up but forced it down. Coughing a bit, am I gonna be okay???

Probably: This happens to all of us occasionally and the protective reflexes in the lungs cause us to cough hard and expel whatever dropped into the lungs. If you were sickly before, or didn't have a good cough response, you would begin having signs of an aggressive irritant pneumonia within hours. If you have settled down and feel okay, the issue is likely past. If you feel short of breath, go in for an exam ...Read more
