Tongue and mouth: When you start to look closely at the body, things might seem strange or weird. The mouth has alot of structures in it that can look very bizarre if you stare too long. Good you showed this to a doc -I would trust that opinion. You can show Health Tap docs too by uploading a pic. Probably this is just a mucous film -try drinking more fluids. I like to 'rinse' throughout the day -helps the breath 2 ...Read more

I think my bf has thrush he has a thick white coating on tongue and when he tries to brush it off he has patches of red and a little bleeding?

Probably not: It would be unusual for a healthy young male to have lingual thrush. I suspect that the white coating is not a yeast infection and is not pathological. White patches are often seen on the throat surface with oral yeast infections. Have him examined by an otolaryngologist if concerns continue. ...Read more

Maybe a couple weeks: Coated tongue can be due to yeast or fungus, which can be triggered by broad spectrum antibiotis like the ones you took. However, most white coated tongues aren't due to fungus. Simply being ill or on antibiotics can do it. You should contact the doc who is treating you. Most likely s/he will advise you to sit tight and let it clear up on its own, which might take a few weeks. No harm will come. ...Read more

See a dentist: Tongue scraping is a great way to remove the debris on your tongue. But it sound like this is not enough for you. There are other causes of bad breath and white tongues, it could be allergies, post nasal drip, thrush infection or other causes. My throat culture & sensitivity c/s report says "organism: moderate growth streptococcus viridans group" is this normal, i've white coating on tongue?

My throat culture & sensitivity c/s report says "organism: moderate growth streptococcus viridans group" is this normal, i've white coating on tongue?

Possible fungal...: Overgrowth. If you have cultures, you are probably already on an antibiotic for something. S. Viridens is a common oral bacteria that we all have on some level. Yours may be higher than normal but the white on your tongue could be candidiasis from a lack of "regular" bacteria that keep it down. Try 1/2 hydrogen peroxide/ 1/2 or mouthwash, brush your tongue, if no luck see a dr. May need nystatin. ...Read more

I have had a sore throat, fatigue, white coating on tongue with red spots and a cough. Sore throat has disappeared but others remained for 8+ weeks.

See your doctor: Without knowing your medical history and medication use, hard to tell for sure what this is. Best to see your doctor and test whether the white coating on your tongue is thrush, a type of fungal infection. May need treatment for this. It is a long time to be experiencing fatigue and have this coating and cough. Need blood tests and a physical exam to assess reason. Please see your doctor soon. ...Read more

Lump on neck, lump on back of tongue, white spot on tonsil, red dots on tongue (look like large paepelle), white coating on tongue, ear/throat pain.

Doctor can check: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is "super sore", recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Throat infections can occur along with tongue and ear symptoms. ...Read more
