My 11 year old son has a few bumps on the back of his tongue and its painful. He doesn't have fever or cough or sorethroat? What should I do?
Not likely related: The normal tongue has many little bumps and they are larger toward the back of the tongue (special tastebuds)--see picture. The sorethroat he has likely is not related to these bumps. It could be just a viral pharyngitis (viral throat infection may not be red/swollen) and not needing treatment beyond symptom control with motrin/sorethroat spray etc...If symptoms worsen, consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more

Zpack no, cough yes:
The red bump on the roof of the mouth and pain in tongue is more due to the hard cough than the zpack. If this continues I'd go back to the dentist to have it evaluated. No worries.
