Right infront?: It is difficult to tell what type of problem you have from a short question/info you provided. Being 18 and i assume this is a new , large, painful bump (as pictured here?) is call a prepatella bursitis, inflammation of the area just infront of your knee cap. Contusion: Sounds like a contusion, or a deep bruise. If you are unable to walk on it, can't extend (straighten) your knee or if the pain isn't improving, then you should get an xray. ...Read more

I will tell you: There is a superficial nerve come from inside the knee to outside the knee , sometime this nerve accidently cut during arthroscopy, when is cut (partial, or total cut) it form what we call neuroma at the site if you pump that area you will have what are describing. Could be a few thing: Im not sure exactly where its located due to your age it may be the proximal tibial growth plate or even the head of the fibula it may be somewhat inflamed from exercise hard to say much more without an exam and xray of the area. ...Read more

One does not have: To see something to itch...For example (not implying this is what you have) if one ever works with insulation and doesn't wear proper clothing they get fiberglass on their skin - it itches intensely but one doesn't see anything....You can try showering and applying soap and water to the region and then applying an over the counter Hydrocortisone cream.
