While What Is The Cause Of My Bulging Neck Vein When Angry And How Can I Hide It
Calm down: Anger causes one to strain, thus increasing the pressure within the chest. This pressure is transmitted to the veins in the chest, and upwards to the head and neck area, resulting in bulging veins, increased redness. A good example is when one sees a singer holding a note, or when a weight lifter strains to hold the barbells. Relax, count to ten taking slow breaths in and out to hide them. ...Read more
My neck vein above my left collarbone is always very visible almost bulging w/pulse. I've never had this before. What could cause this ?
Normal variant?: It's possible that it could be a narrowing of the vein between there and the heart, or a clot in the vein, but either of those would be extremely unlikely in a healthy 20 year old man without a significant surgical history. The more likely cause is that it is just a normal variant. We all have a little abnormality or asymmetry with one thing or another. ...Read more

With straining the muscles of the neck they can become more visible. If "congested" and very prominent at rest in a seated position, a check may be warranted. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
When my 2 year old son cries a vein in his neck seems to bulge out? Is this normal? My doc seemed to fob it off when questioned.
Could be: When you cry you increase the pressure inside your chest cavity. That in turn makes it more difficult for blood to flow back to the heart from the head. Think by analogy if you were stepping on a garden hose there would be a "bulging" of the hose behind your foot. Now as to why he is crying so hard, I am not sure and you have to supply more information. ...Read more
