Which Is Less Dangerous Gastric Bypass Or The Lap Bang
What is the difference between gastric bypass and a lap-band? What are some of the dangers? I need to describe 2 dangers of gastric bypass and lap-band procedure but i thought they were one in the same
Gastric : Gastric bypass surgery is a more invasive surgical procedure, has a stapling of the stomach to reduce its size, and has a new connection of the small intestine to the new smaller stomach remnant. The risks with this surgery would be low risk of bleeding, some risk of infection or leakage from the new intestinal connection, and some risk of adhesions causing intestinal blockage later. A lap-band is a shorter surgical procedure where an inflatable band is placed around the upper stomach, shrinking the size of the stomach. There is no stomach stapling or new intestinal connection performed. The risks of this surgery can be slippage of the band so the band does not work correctly, erosion of the band through the full lining of the stomach, low risk of infection, and risk that the band does not work well and not enough weight loss occurs. Both surgical procedures can result in some food intolerance, vomiting, pain, and possibly too much or too little weight loss. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

If you have those problems or have a bmi over 50, the bypass is a better option. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
