Which Is Better For Peeling Lips Aquaphor Or Vaseline
Why are my lips always peeling? What should I use as a good moisturizer? Vaseline and carmax does not work (of course).
My bottom lip is chapped, the skin that connects to my bottom lip is peeling. The last time this happened, I used Vaseline and got a cold sore. Idk?
Cold sore unrelated: I don't think that cold sore outbreak was directly related to the use of vaseline. Petroleum jelly (vaseline) actually is known to promote healing of damaged skin, since it helps 'seal in' the sensitive skin cells under the damaged area...then they can regenerate. Cold sores usually come out at times of stress- exams, break-ups etc, so I think this was unrelated. Best to keep stress to a minimum. ...Read more

Lip allergy & eczema: Persistent chapped lips is lip eczema, which can be treated like skin eczema, using hydrocortisone cream plus Vaseline or Aquaphor to retain moisture. Sometimes lipsticks or lip sunscreen chemicals are causing an allergic reaction on the lips. Other times, a person is a primary lip-licker (it's his habit). Once cracked, lips get irritated by routine foods and juices. Hydrocortisone for 1 wk helps. ...Read more

Simple healing: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation (red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day and protected from trauma. Antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected. ...Read more

Hi I had a salicylic & lactic peel and was advised to use aquaphor. I'm acne prone and don't want to clog my pores how long should I use the aquaphor? It's been 2 days...
Not long: Generally a Salicylic Lactic acid peel isn't very deep. If your skin isn't still raw it would be ok to stop. You can usually tell when the Aquaphor is off your face may sting and burn without it if it is still raw. You can also wash your face with a mild soap like cetaphil, if you need the Aquaphor you can re-apply. That said, I would imagine after 2 days you may not need it any longer. ...Read more
