Not a lot but...: That isn't a high dose unless taken daily for several months. However, it is probably vitamin D2 which is the synthetic form of the natural vitamin D3. It has been available for over 50 years but was not proven to be as good as the D3 form. You are right: Vitamin D3 is more natural, more effective and stays in the body longer. You do not need a prescription. Take about 5000 units a day for about three months and after than you may reduce your intake to about 2000 units/day. You are deficient in vitamin D and should take D3. ...Read more
