I had to have my gallbladder removed, what happens to my body without this particular organ?

Fat digestion issues: The gallbladder stores and concentrates bile, which is produced by the liver and used by your body to absorb fat in the gut. When you eat fat, a hormone called cck signals the gallbladder to release bile.

If the gallbladder is removed, the bile cannot be released all at once, so some fat is not absorbed. It is then passed out as diarrhea. A diet low in fat, and smaller meals will reduce that. ...Read more

Is there a way to decrease the ammount of bile salts your body makes after gallbladder surgery?

Unfortunately no.: No. However, the reason you are probably having diarrhea is bile is constantly being introduced into the small intestine and not being completely reabsorbed before entering the large intestine. 1inch "pseudocyst" in body of pancreas, not sure if i ever had pancreatitis, have had it for over a year, dr wants to remove gallbladder, should i?

It Depends: The presence of a pseudocyst implies a prior episode of pancreatitis; there are many possible causes of pancreatitis, of which the 2 most common are gallstones & alcoholism. If you have a known history of gallstones, a strong argument can be made to remove the gb, especially if they cause pain. If this isn't consistent w/what you were told, a second opinion may be a good idea. Good luck! ...Read more
