I know that drinking alcohol decreases your metabolism. Does weed have the same effect ?

Companies market light alcohol drinks as a healthier alternative. Is this true and do low alcohol calorie drinks slow down your metabolism.?

Companies market light alcohol drinks as a healthier alternative. Is this true and do low alcohol calorie drinks slow down your metabolism.?

It depends: Alcohol has about 8 kcal of energy compared to sugar with about 4kcal of energy. So it could be that a drink with lower alcohol could be considered safer because it had less alcohol and hence prevented unnecessary weight gain or other complications. Alcohol is a sedative so it can be argued it helps slow down metabolism. This is marketing! lite beer has likely killed a lot of people. ...Read more

Why should a diabetic swab the site of insulin injections with rubbing alcohol first?

Why should a diabetic swab the site of insulin injections with rubbing alcohol first?

Prevent infection: Bacteria live on the skin surface. Alcohol kills them so the needle doesn't pick up living bacteria & deliver them under the skin where they can cause an infection (cellulitis). This is the same reason for an alcohol wipe when blood is drawn from an arm vein. Fingersticks do not generally need alcohol wipes, just a soap & water handwash. ...Read more
