22 year old 190 lbs 6 ft tall haveing chest pain in left side, jaw hurts mild, minor sweating can I be having a heart attack?

Chest pain: Go to the ER if this is an acute symptom. It is rare for young people to have a heart attack, unless they have a congenital condition, significant risk factors, or have used cocaine which is the #1 cause of heart attacks and sudden death in young adults. For your peace of mind, get an evaluation and electrocardiogram. ...Read more

I had chest pain that stopped after a few minutes and I was able to go on with what I was doing when my chest hurt. Any possibility of heart attack?

It is highly: Unlikely for a 16 year old woman to have coronary artery disease or heart attack. Usually sharp chest pains at your age are from the muscles and bones of the chest and have nothing to do with your organs. Real heart pain is dull and pressure like a tooth ache. If you are active and otherwise healthy you have nothing to worry about with regard to your heart. (other than teenage boys!) ...Read more

Nerve issues: Possibilities other than a cardiac problem include:

1. Cervical radiculopathy (pinched nerve in the neck)
2. Brachial plexus impingement (pressure on the nerves in the brachial plexus)
3. Entrapment neuropathy (pressure on a nerve at the elbow or wrist)

The next step would be to consult with a neurologist to determine the cause of the symptoms and treatment. ...Read more

How do I know when someone is truly having a heart attack? Does it go on for days? Is chest pain always present?

Need real eval: Determining if a patient is having a heart attack requires looking at a compilation of the patient's history (circumstances of pain), ekg and lab analysis. Chest pain is not always present (there is less chance of typical chest pain in women and diabetics) and even without a heart attack (myocardial infarction) a patient may be having angina (chest pain from heart strain) that also needs care. ...Read more

Chest pain I've had a bad migraine for two days and recently started having chest pain. Its been going on for about an hour so I'm pretty sure I'm not having a heart attack or stroke. I'm also only 18. Have tried all my usual migraine medications but they

Chest: Chest pain is very worisome. Although you are at low risk for a heart attack or stroke, these things are possible. More importantly severe conditions such as aneurysms, aortic dissections, pneumonia, etc, can be the cause. Also costochondritis, asthma, and even gastric reflux can be to blame. I suggest if you are still having pain please present to your local urgent care or emergency department. On the other hand, if you are feeling better, you should still find a medical provider to handle your migraines and issues as they come up. Search for for low income community clinics in your area and/or contact your local county hospital for resources.
Best of luck. ...Read more

Is it possible for a person having a heart attack to have neck and jaw pain but no chest pain? I also have tmj

Yes: Neck and jaw pain without chest pain would be considered an "atypical" presentation but it does happen. Remember that a heart attack can (and does in 30-50% of cases) have no pain. Other symptoms that commonly accompany heart attacks are: breathlessness, cold-clammy sweat, nausea and sometimes vomiting. Recurring pain is not likely your heart since frequent recurrent heart attacks are unlikely. ...Read more

My blood pressure is 108 over 63 with chest pain could I still be having a heart attack? Pulse is 63 a And I have used nitro spray which helps

Possible: You can be having a heart attack with ANY blood pressure. It neither rules it in nor out. Nitro spray helping is also non-specific since nitro spray also helps acid reflux and esophagitis. If you think you might be having a heart attack, the only option is to go to the ER. Since someone gave you Nitro spray, clearly you have been evaluated. Without that information, further advice isn't possible. ...Read more

Are all types of chest pain a heart attack?

No: There are many organs and structures that live in the heart's neighborhood! Any of these can cause chest pain. These include esophageal and stomach problems (like reflux) and lung problems. Any problems of the chest wall muscles or nerves (like a case of shingles) can cause chest pain.
