Where Do People With A Short Trunk But Long Legs Gain Weight The Most
What doctor should I see about spinal growth(non-scoliosis)? I should be ~5'10 but 5'6 instead because of my extremely short torso and long legs.
Primary care: I would start this discussion with your primary doctor, who can discuss your concerns and run some routine labs in order to determine whether you may need to see an endocrinologist for further evaluation. ...Read more
Does your torso grow last? I'm a 20 year old male with long legs and arms but I have a very short torso. I'm just now getting beard peach fuzz.
Not really: There is some linear growth in the vertebral bodies but most comes in the long bones (arms, legs). Most males will finish linear growth around 17-18 when the growth centers close. An x-ray of your wrist/hand could be evaluated for open growth centers. If open at 20, this suggests a delay of growth & more could occur. Body proportions are under genetic influence. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I am a 25 year old african american female with extremely long legs, long arms, and a very short torso. I suffer from mid and lower back pain. Is there a way to lengthen my torso at this age?
Change parents.: Body shape is genetic. Many cultures or families genetically have broader chests and thinner legs, others are long-limbed, or short. You cannot change the genes you were born with. You can dress and exercise to tone, shape and minimize the difference. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
No: Stretching will not make you grow taller. ...Read more
No: You are as tall as you will ever be at your age. There are many different types of body configurations which are most likely inherited from your parents. People with some syndromes such as marfan's syndrome can be tall and have long fingers and limbs. If you think you may have one of these syndromes, consult with your doctor. ...Read more
What should a healthy teen do in order to look slimmer? What activities should a teenage girl do to achieve thin calves and nice, long legs?
No unless it means: That you are taller than 6 feet as taller people have an increased risk of lower back problems just due to the mechanics and loads on their spine based on size alone. The other scenario would be a syndrome being portrayed like marfan's which has issues as well with the spine. ...Read more
Could be stenosis: When standing, spinal stenosis in the lumbar spine usually becomes more symptomatic. In other words, the pain or numbness in the legs gets worse. I recommend evaluation by your doctor who could order tests such as x-rays, MRI or a ct scan of your low back and check for other possible causes of your complaints. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Marfan syndrome: It sounds like you suspect you may have marfan. Your doctor will address your concerns, and conduct a workup based on his evaluation. Aortic aneurysm is indeed something to be concerned about in these patients. I compliment you on your research. Echocardiogram, ct are relatively low risk for the diagnostic benefit and early fix, so if your doc recommended them, i'd strongly consider. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yes, it is possible!: Typically long legs & large feet go with tall stature (like puppies with big paws) but not 100% of t he time. I do have a few patients with big feet who aren't tall. When the shoe size gets larger than 13, it becomes harder to find shoes in stores and you often have to search on-line & can be more expensive, hopefully they don't grow too large! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can you use lido patches on lumbar bfore/during an MRI (no contrast) ? Can not lie still on back very long, legs will start jumping by themselves...
Better options: Many transdermal patches contain aluminum and may cause burns during an MRI scan. Since it can be difficult to visually see all the layers of a transdermal patch, it is generally discouraged to use them during an MRI test, though not absolutely contraindicated. Many people have pain and cannot hold still for mri. Options include oral sedatives or in more difficult cases conscious IV sedation. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My daughter is 10 years old. She is currently 5 foot tall. I am around 5'9" and her dad is around 6'5". What is the chances she will grow to be over 6 before she is done growing. She has her dads long body and my long legs.
Prob under 6 feet: There are multiple height calculators for children based on parental heights. Pl see one below which requires inputting weight also. While none of them are 100 % accurate in predicting final height but based on some of these assumptions, your daughter can be close to 5 feet 10-11 inches tall. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have this red bump on my leg the size of a quarter and in the middle of it, is like a tiny bubble or blister in the form of a weird circle. Also, I was cleaning my closet and there was spiders that looked liked daddy long legs. So I don't know what?
Bite: "Daddy long leg" spiders don't bite like that, but in the same environment there could be other insects that do. The most concerning of the likely possibilities would be a brown recluse spider. I would be seen at an urgent care facility and followed closely for signs of necrosis and/ or infection. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
