What are the tests called to find out if have chlaymadia or gonnorhea?what do I say when I go to a hospital?
STD tests: if you are worried about sexually transmitted diseases, the best thing to do is to tell the doctor just what pt you are worried about, any symptoms you are having and they will order the correct tests. You do not have to know the name or what tests to order, it is not like going to a restaurant and picking tests from a menu. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I have clamydia or ghonneria and want it treated. Would a drop in sex clinic do this, or do I see my GP?
I'd choose clinic: In the UK, you'll almost never go wrong with a NHS genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinic, most of which operate primarily on a drop-in basis (I think). You'll have guaranteed expertise and sensitivity to any sexual lifestyle. Your GP also might provide excellent care, but the STD expertise of GPs (in UK or any other country) is all over the place -- some excellent, others with poor understanding. ...Read more

Possibly: Urine tests help us determine if there is an inflammatory process going on - like an infection. They do not tell us what the infection is until a culture is done. STD's can cause inflammation of our urinary tract (bladder, urethra, etc), so basic urine tests can be positive. If the STD is not cause inflammation of the urinary tract, a urine test will not be positive. ...Read more

No...however...: If you are reasonably concerned you may have an STD, then you should address that prior to donating blood. Conscientious donors are the backbone of a healthy blood supply--we need you & you need to be healthy. They do screen for some bloodborne "STDs" (hepatitis, HIV), but can't test for everything. ...Read more

I took a urine chlamydia test I've received a message today to tell me they are referring me to pregnancy with chlamydia, I do not no if I am pregnant so how do they? Would the chlamydia test detect pregnancy?
Hmmm....: Maybe they do urine pregnancy tests on all women getting screened for STD's. Maybe all women screening positive for chlamydia go to the same clinic, labeled the "Pregnant with Chlamydia" clinic. Maybe they're just clairvoyant, or maybe it's a mistake. A chlamydia test by itself does not test for pregnancy. Perhaps the best thing to do is just to call them and ask. ...Read more
No: No, a person does not need to get an HIV test merely because an HIV+ person licks him or her. Licking means different things to different people, but in general, licking does not conjure up visions of AIDS. However, a person who engages in intimate-contact activities with prostitutes (or similar risky hobbies) should get periodic HIV screening (but not after every single encounter). ...Read more

Maintenance: If you are sexually active you need to plan medical evaluations as part of the ongoing maintenance. There are probably a dozen diseases that can pass sexually and if you are exposed to one, there can be a second or third passed at the same encounter. Find a free STD clinic and get tested/treated. Docs can loose their license by prescribing without proper evaluation and documentation. Not worth it. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
