Relative term: Most use the term tall stature when discussing the height of kids/adults in the top 10% of the population for their respective gender and age. Some limit the term to a narrower group in the top 5 or 3%. I was diagnosed with, Constutional Tall Stature. What exactly does this mean? I'm a 37yr old Caucasian male, weight 210lbs.
I understand XXX syndrome can cause tallness in girls. Is that symptom noticed early on or can that come about later in life (years past puberty)?
By adolescence: Hi. The tallness is noticed by adolescence. The height increase only occurs in females with 47, XXX until the growth plates in the long bones fuse (which occurs relatively later in 47, XXX females than in 46, XX). Once the growth plates are fused, there is no increase in linear height. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Yes, it is possible!: Typically long legs & large feet go with tall stature (like puppies with big paws) but not 100% of t he time. I do have a few patients with big feet who aren't tall. When the shoe size gets larger than 13, it becomes harder to find shoes in stores and you often have to search on-line & can be more expensive, hopefully they don't grow too large! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Nature: Your numbers are off a bit. Most women stop at 16-17 and men at 17-18 as a response to the hormones that drive puberty. These hormones tell the growth centers to finish and solidify in preparation for adult life. The growth centers are a weaker bone feature that are subject to greater risk of injury, once closed, the weakness is gone as is the potential for more linear growth. ...Read more
It sounds fine: Today we rightly emphasize the value of a woman having autonomy and being safe on her own. Different people respond differently to different physical features in people they already like, and we naturally protect / nurture those we love. If that special man is tall (or muscular or a professional-boxer or an elite athlete) and it feels good, even the most self-sufficient woman should be glad. ...Read more

Hello, im men 22yrs old, 155 cm, i feel embarrassed bcoz of thi, is it possible to get taller now? and how?thnks
Most likely no. : Sorry, but the answer is no. Most people have their growth plates fuse and calcify around the the age of 18-20. If you were to grow any taller it would likely be an un-noticeable amount. Don't feel embarrassed, nothing wrong with being shorter than average, being smarter than average is what you should be concerned about. Hope this helps. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
