When Will My Baby Start Responding To His Name
Usually by 9 months: Most babies should respond regularly to their own name around 9 months. They are probably not doing much talking at this age, but you should hear a lot of babbling. Most babies are saying "dada" or "mama" at this age, but it may not be specific for you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
9 mnths: Developmentally infants recognize and respond to their name by 9 months. Babies continue to amaze me with their ability to learn. Best advice is for you to observe and notice when your child seems to consistently respond to his/her name. They recognize voices from in utero and can distinguish mom from dad....So maybe by 6 months you may notice your child recognizes his/her name. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My friends baby is breached and she wants to know if there's anyway she can help the baby start turning head down? She's 32 weeks and 5 days
May change : The position , may change prior to delivery with no external efforts, or the OB may set up to try a "version" maneuver around the due date to convert baby to head down. They usually are set up to go ahead & do a c-section if it does not change babies position or the process triggers signs of distress in baby. Mom isn't going to change things by herself. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is there an alternative to ridaline for a child? My exwife put my 6 yr old son on it to make her life easier on watching him. When he comes to my house and i give it to him as directed he acts like a zombie an hour later when it takes affect. He also start
Hello. : Hello. Sounds like a lot of tension between parents. Normally, a physician will not prescribe Ritalin (methylphenidate) for the sole purpose of making a child more docile. There has to be actual medical indication. There are a number of differrent medications which can be used to treat a child. I would anticipate that your son likely has attention deficit disorder or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder if he is being treated with ritalin (methylphenidate). I suggest that you share your observations with your wife. Recommend it be done in a neutral and non- accusatory manner. You can share your concerns about possible side effects with her. It will be received better if your wife perceives you as bringing it up due to concern about your son, rather than bringing it up in the context of not parenting appropriately. Good luck. ...Read more
If I give my son a bottle will he start to prefer the bottle more then my breast? I don't want to stop the bond.
Reasonable backup: You may find it hard to get him to take a bottle if you are there & he wants the real thing. Having someone else feed him a bottle once in a while can be a benefit if you were to need surgery or be away for any lengthy period. I find more BF kids refuse bottles than become confused by them. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

My baby is 7 months and i still have to force feed her. She doesn't open her mouth to feed on any kind. I try to trick her and force the food? Whyyyy
No force-feeding: Babies do not need to be force-fed. If a parent thinks she has to force-feed her baby, she can bring the baby to the doctor and feed the baby while the doctor is watching (explain that this is the plan, when booking the appointment). In most cases, the baby is fine and will drink enough breastmilk or formula to grow normally (which may be a smaller amount of intake than the parent wishes). ...Read more

What do you suggest if my child is not producing enuff milk for her 1 month old. how should we begin the switch to formula?
Formula options: Milk supply can be increased by nursing or pumping more frequently, staying well hydrated and rested, and by supplementing your diet with the herb fenugreek. However, starting with a standard cow milk based formula such a Similac or Enfamil should be fine unless there is a close family history of lactose intolerance, in which case a lactose-free (usually labeled as 'sensitive') or soy can be used. ...Read more
When can I start giving water to drink to a baby he is 3 months old now and he usually gets hickups and I use breast milk to help him from that?
not helpful: Infants have no need and derive no benefit from water supplements. Breast milk or formula is designed to provide for all of babies needs. Hiccoughs are driven by an electrical wave in the breathing muscle like a heartbeat and will fade when it decides to, supplements of milk or water have no direct benefit. ...Read more

Sedation: If your child ever becomes combative she could do damage to herself or the dentist.
