When To See A Doctor For Muffled Hearing
Woke up with ear pain two weeks ago and have had muffled hearing since. Pretty sure it's fluid. Is this an ear infection? Should i see a doctor?
Yes.: Decreased hearing for two weeks needs to be checked out unless it is due to allergies and responds to an antihistamine. Either way, avoid loud noises in the meantime and avoid respiratory tract/skin irritants/allergens in the environment (like smoke, fragrances, aerosols). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I had mono went back to the doctor and she didn't see a virus anymore.I still feel dizzy with hearing loss could this be a sinus infection from mono?
Dizzy, hearing loss: Those issues may be somewhat unrelated to mononucleosis. If you had upper respiratory symptoms with the mono, then may be related. I would suggest seeing an otolaryngologist at this point to sort things our further, get a good head/neck exam, and possibly hearing testing. ...Read more
A hearing test: It depends on how long the hearing loss has been going on for. The first thing that will happen is the doctor will look in your ears and see if there's any wax or other problem that can be fixed. Then a hearing test will be performed. If the hearing loss is only of a few days duration high-dose steroids can be quite helpful. If the problem is fluid and then it can be drained. It is very important to see the ear nose and throat doctor as soon as possible. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is hearing loss from labetalol reversible? I've been taking labetalol since the last quarter of 2011. Over the past few weeks, i've noticed that my hearing has become muffled and the quality has diminished.
I'm seeing my primary physician next tue. And
Was sick. Went to doc. Took azythromycin and oxycodone. Blew nose too hard. Have slight ringing, muffled hearing in one ear 4 days and can't "pop" it.
Tha'r She Blows!!!!!: This is very common: blowing air back into your ear when blowing your nose but the overall congestion won't allow it to escape. Then after a while some fluid can collect, and then if that hangs out long enough it can become infected. If the fluid or air can be removed with decongestants you'll feel better. And be careful blowing the nose: gently, one nostril at a time. chewing gum may help too. ...Read more
