When To See A Doctor For Muffled Hearing
Woke up with ear pain two weeks ago and have had muffled hearing since. Pretty sure it's fluid. Is this an ear infection? Should I see a doctor?
Yes.: Decreased hearing for two weeks needs to be checked out unless it is due to allergies and responds to an antihistamine. Either way, avoid loud noises in the meantime and avoid respiratory tract/skin irritants/allergens in the environment (like smoke, fragrances, aerosols).See 1 more doctor answer

Exposed to dust&mold have cough congestion yellow/brown phlegm also partial hearing loss in ear over a week not clearing up is it time to see doctor?
1 week of symptoms: Yes, it is time to see a doctor.
A hearing test: It depends on how long the hearing loss has been going on for. The first thing that will happen is the doctor will look in your ears and see if there's any wax or other problem that can be fixed. Then a hearing test will be performed. If the hearing loss is only of a few days duration high-dose steroids can be quite helpful. If the problem is fluid and then it can be drained. It is very important to see the ear nose and throat doctor as soon as possible.See 1 more doctor answer
Hi doctor. My child has complained of suddenly hearing loss, some time he could not understand word. Dr advise hearing aid after test. Please help me.
Sudden hearing loss: Sudden hearing loss is a abrupt loss of hearing of 30 decibels or more over at least 3 frequencies on the hearing test. Acute hearing loss can be treated with steroids or observed. Some hearing comes back even without treatment. If the doctor recommended a hearing aid, I am assuming his hearing loss is older that one month. 1 month seems to be the golden window for treatment.

Used 3% concentrated perox in ear, doc said impacted wax on eardrum and gave me prescription eardrops for 4 days. How long before muffled hearing gone?
Wax impaction: Go back and have ear cleaned using curettes, picks, suction, and microscope.
Was sick. Went to doc. Took azythromycin and oxycodone. Blew nose too hard. Have slight ringing, muffled hearing in one ear 4 days and can't "pop" it.
Tha'r She Blows!!!!!: This is very common: blowing air back into your ear when blowing your nose but the overall congestion won't allow it to escape. Then after a while some fluid can collect, and then if that hangs out long enough it can become infected. If the fluid or air can be removed with decongestants you'll feel better. And be careful blowing the nose: gently, one nostril at a time. chewing gum may help too.

Progressive hearing loss, constant pain in the ears and doctors don't have a clue. What to do next?
I am having mixed hearing loss... Doctor prescribed renerve plus?? Will I get back my hearing?? Or will I become deaf in future?? I am depressed. Help.
Ask the Dr: The doctor who prescribed for you is the best one to provide a diagnosis and prognosis. Ask for as much info as possible including recommendations for the best possible treatment expectations. Referrals are also a good idea - for second opinions and emotional support.

Earpain for 3 days. Now sudden sharp pain to ear, followed by blood and hearing loss. Pain better. Eardrum rupture? Should I go to doc or wait?
Sir I m suffering from hearing loss. There is a hole in my ear drum. Doc told me. Will it automatically repair? Or not then what steps I will do?
Depends: If it's a recent traumatic perforation then the likelihood of healing spontaneously is high within 6 weeks. If it doesn't heal then it will need repair. Depending on the size of the hole repair can be anywhere from simple to complex. You should have an ENT doctor following you.
