Sounds like: You have PCOS and have irregular periods and need the medication to bleed. An alternative would just be to take the pill. Even the way you are doing it you donor ovulate so it would be easier just to take the OCPs. ...Read more

A week late from my period. Doctor recommended norethisterone, took it for 3 days and stopped taking two days back, still haven't gotten period, why?

Takes awhile: It can take up to a week to 10 days for a withdrawal bleed to occur. Of course your doctor must have tested for pregnancy before prescribing the norethisterone. If your period still hasn't started by next week, get back to your doctor for more testing. Hope this helps. ...Read more

What do you suggest if I switched from taking ortho tricyclene for 7 years to micronor (norethindrone). My period is 6 days late. Should I worry yet?

Probably normal: There is probably nothing to worry about. The cycles with micronor (norethindrone) can be irregular. I would probably check a pregnancy test if you don't have some bleeding in the next week. ...Read more

Pregnancy worries?: It can be hard to tell if a woman is pregnant because some of the symptoms seen in early pregnancy can also happen in non-pregnant women. A urine pregnancy test gives a reliable result if done correctly. One can test about 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period. An Ob-Gyn doctor can evaluate any persistent or worrisome symptoms. ...Read more

Is my birth control ortho micronor (norethindrone) still in effect if my boyfriend ejaculates in me? My period is 3 days late. I have premenstrual symptoms, no period

Yes: If you have not missed a pill then your birth control should still be in effect. Birth control is not 100% though so I would take a test. If the test is negative then feel reassured - sometimes you don't build up enough of a lining to get a period. ...Read more

Had norethisterone for 5days last month. Got norml periods after 4days of stopping the drug. This mnth 10days late, & still no. Is it becoz of the drug?

Amenorrhea: Norethisterone can after taking it for five days, cause withdrawal bleeding after four to five days. This bleeding is not a "true period" (not as a result of ovulation), so if you are again "late" by 10 days, it is usually because you are not ovulating. There are many possible causes, so consult your healthcare professional for testing. ...Read more

Will norethisterone stop period once it starts-have been taking 4 2 days but feel period is coming (due sat/sun). If I continue pills will it stop it?

Typically: We can not always predict exactly what I going to happen with Progesterone use. Sometimes it depends on why you are using it. It is not particularly typical to prescribe it days before someone is due to start their cycle. The pills will try and stop your period. Your uterus thinks its time for one. Can you take norethisterone to delay period while taking clomid?

Can you take norethisterone to delay period while taking clomid?

No: Do not take any medication to delay menses when taking clomid. This will throw the cycle of clomid off and decrease chances of it working. My holiday is on 8th Aug for 14 days, started period today (lasts 5 days) can I take Norethisterone so my next period will be early before I go away?

Probably not: Norethisterone can be used to delay a period, since it maintains the progesterone level, and it's the progesterone drop that brings on a period.
