I take my blood pressure at least 4 times in one sitting and each reading is different... Which reading should I use as true?
Average them: BP is a dynamic measure that is constantly changing so no two will be exactly the same. Take your BP at complete rest for 10 minutes, seated with arm propped up at heart level (not held up by your mucles). If they're within 30 points of each other, average them. If they're vastly different, take 5 readings and throw out the 1 highest and lowest, and average the middle 3. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
The more times I take my blood pressure in a row, the more it keeps going down. Does accuracy go down if I take it too much?
No: Many things affect our blood pressure. As you've seen, BP is always changing; I've seen it change over 20 points in a minute. The very act of taking one' s BP often raises it so the reading you get the first time is probably higher than it would be if you were not measuring it. As you take it more you tend to get more relaxed, so later readings are probably more reflective of your baseline level. ...Read more

When I take my blood pressure at home it is very painful and I can feel my heart begin to race. Can taking it cause high readings? I really dread it.
Do you inflate the cuff or is it done automatically by a pump. If later, the cuff is inflated too much and it is pinching your nerves. You should talk to your doctor or nurse and address the technique for taking blood pressure as it should not be painful.

Do i need to take my blood pressure pill everyday even when my BP is 130/80 or even when it is below 140/80 or 120/80? Please am confused about it.
Yes: In a person with hypertension, the reason blood pressure comes down to normal is because of taking the medication(s) regularly and as prescribed. If you don't take your meds your blood pressure would be higher on those days. If your blood pressure drops too low i.e. Below 90/60 and have symptoms such as dizziness, inform your doctor to consider decreasing your dose. ...Read more
