When My Veins In Neck Feel Tight
My question is what causes the left front big muscle/vein on your neck to be larger than the right plus muscle tightness ?
Positional change.: The veins in the neck just as the veins in the rest of the body change in size depending on changes in position as well as changes in levels of hydration and changes in pressure in the chest and abdominal cavity. In the neck, the veins decrease with standing and increase with lying down. Straining or laughing increase the the pressure in the chest which can increase the size of the facial veins. ...Read more
Hi I started noticing recently that when I smile, multiple veins on the right side of neck show and it feels really tight where my lymph node is, help?
No Necking This Week: You are describing something unusual, especially at your age. Likewise, it's hard to decide what's going on without seeing it. A more detailed history will be needed as well. Most of the time things like this turn out to be 'nothing,' but if you keep noticing this for more than, say, two weeks, then go get it checked-out. In the meantime, keep smiling. The world needs more smiles right now. ...Read more
Can anyone tell me what causes the left front big muscle/vein on your neck to be larger than the right plus muscle tightness and slight pain on left side of neck ?
Pinched Nerve/Muscle: Most times back pain that is sudden onset will resolve. He should use anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen, aleve around the clock and even tylenol (acetaminophen) to help. If this does not resolve you should see your doctor for a muscle relaxant as well. If it still does not resolve, I would recommend seeing a spine specialist for a full evaluation and testing. You may need to get an MRI to see inside. ...Read more
I have excercised and have a very tight right shoulder muscle, right neck muscle, and a vein over right eyebrow that has just popped out. All related?
Maybe: It sounds like a pulled muscle in your neck. I don't see how the vein over your eyebrow is related to it. Perhaps you have become more aware and focused because of your pain and you notice it now. If the veins in your neck are being compressed it could cause the veins in your forehead to enlarge. Arnold neuralgia on the left has anything to do with the external jugular vein strain? When this happens my throat tighten and feel bites and nu air
No: Arnold's neuralgia is also known as occipital neuralgia and no association to external jugular vein. Their is no entity as jugular vein strain but maybe language barrier in play here. This neuralgia consists of pain in upper neck, head and behind eyes. The tightening in the throat may be more related to the anxiety you have with the onset of symptoms rather than the neuralgia. I hope this helps. ...Read more
Normal: Neck veins distend when we lie with our head lower than our heart or when we strain. With straining, the pressure within the chest increases and the blood flow through the neck veins decrease resulting in them enlarging. This is normal. Levels of hydration, genetics, outside temperature and any increase in pressure within the chest will enlarge the neck veins. Your veins are most likely normal. ...Read more
