I can't speak to the "popping" noises that you are having, but the numbness/tingling/burning most likely is due to nerve compression at a high thoracic spine level. Definitely: Falls can be very dangerous, especially on ice. It isn't unsual that we think we are ok & "shake it off" only to find we worsen with time. It could be from swelling, which can take up to 72 hrs. To get to maximum level but not being able to bear weight makes me think it could be more. Start with a weight: You can easily and safely lift and perform that lift at least 10 times (repetitions) and then repeat at least 1 time again (a set).

That would mean lifting the same weight 20 times (2 sets of 10 reps each).

Symptoms not of ALS: These are not the symptoms of ALS. The onset is insidious & usually not recognized for awhile (even up to a year or longer) when odd things such as stumbling for no reason at all happen but not paid attention to.
