When is it ok to give my baby juice?

When is it ok to give my baby juice?

Rarely if ever: I am not a big fan of giving any juice to babies or children since most juices are just sugar and water. Babies should drink breast milk/formula until 6 months, then water can be added. I also discourage juice since once juice is given, some babies won't like their breast milk/formula/water as much. If you are going to give juice, i definitely recommend diluting it as much as possible. ...Read more

What age can you give babies juice?

What age can you give babies juice?

Too much sugar!: Instead of giving juice, try giving water instead. Juices tend to be loaded with sugar, which isn't good for babies (or anyone). Of course, breast milk is the best food for babies. Formula is also good should you choose not to breastfeed. For babies under 6 months, neither juice nor water are needed unless a doctor says to try juice for constipation or another medical reason. ...Read more

When can babies start on juices?

When can babies start on juices?

Why give it at all: I'm not a big supporter of juices. The kids get more nutrition from the orange wedges than they get from juice. The same goes for grape, apple etc. I'm afraid many of the adult obesity problems we see are related to a preoccupation with sweet things we train babies to want in infancy. Water is a great drink, fruits are a part of a great diet. Juices are basically baby colas. ...Read more

My baby's poop is a bit orange in color, this started showing up this week when she started taking Tiki tiki drops for babies. Not sure if this is due to the carrot juice based veggie drink she's taking or due to the baby drops... She's doing ok, lively,

My baby's poop is a bit orange in color, this started showing up this week when she started taking Tiki tiki drops for babies. Not sure if this is due to the carrot juice based veggie drink she's taking or due to the baby drops... She's doing ok, lively,

Either/ or: Poop color can reflect the undigested food coloring in what you feed them.If you have a good time line and know it is one or the other, you can either stop them or not. I don't think the color of the poo makes any difference if the kid is thriving. ...Read more

Natural plugs: Apple sauce, bananas & rice cereal are the main constipators in most infants. Peaches, pears, plums & barley cereal are usually helpful in loosening them.Prune or apple juice(regular adult, not dilute baby) given in amounts of 1-2 ounces 1-2 x/day for a minimum of 3 days will usually loosen a kid.Good luck. ...Read more

No: Juice is the useless part of fruit. If it's homemade juice, you'd be better off dumping the juice and giving the baby pulp, that's where all the good stuff is. ...Read more

Can I give sunsweet prune juice to my 2 month old baby? If yes how much quantity per day is safe?Is it ok to give only1oz of prune juice at a time

Why would you give?: In general, there is no indication, reason, or need to give any juice to an infant. This may only set himself up for a preference to consume sweetened foods later on. If baby is feeding well - preferably breast milk - and has normal stool output and make plenty of wet diapers, I would refrain from giving juice. There are some doctors who recommend this for mild constipation however. ...Read more

Should I be giving my baby fruit and vegetable juices if I am also formula-feeding him?

Should I be giving my baby fruit and vegetable juices if I am also formula-feeding him?

No: The answer is no.If breast-feeding is not possible, infant formulas contain all of the required nutrients needed by healthy infants. Juices have no nutritional value and should not be used. They provide unneccessary calories and will probably interfere with normal feeding.Occasionally pediatricians will use juice as a natural laxative for a constipated baby, but otherwise juice should not be used. ...Read more
