Hello.: Hello. I can't diagnose your symptoms. However you may have congestion causing your eustachian tube to dysfunction. The eustacian tube drains fluids and pressure from the inside of the ear into the throat. Too much congestion can create pressure against the tube, so that it shuts off. In your case, your tubes may only be partially closed off, so that that things like swallowing, opening your mouth or yawning may open it up. You can take oral decongestants for this and/or consider using a nasal spray like advil (not to be used more than twice a day for a maximum of 3 to 5 days). ...Read more

My ears pop every time I swallow, what could be wrong?

My ears pop every time I swallow, what could be wrong?

Serous otitis: You probably have fluid build-up behind the ear drum, caused by inflammation of the back of the throat/sinuses keeping your ears from opening up and draining properly - then when negative pressure of swallowing "pulls" on it, your ear "pops" open and releases a little fluid/pressure. If it's gone on for more than a couple weeks, see your doctor to confirm and discuss treatments. ...Read more

Why dose my ears pop and cracking noise when I blow my nose and swallow anything?

Why dose my ears pop and cracking noise when I blow my nose and swallow anything?

Air pressure: There is a small connection between your nose and ear called Eustacian Tube. Blowing the nose allows some air pressure changes to happen and the feeling of popping in ear results. This is usually a good thing as it keeps the inner ear inflated. Scuba divers use this technique to help pressure build up in their ears. ...Read more

Ears pop and make a clicking sound when swallowing. Slight dizziness and visual disturbances?

Ears pop and make a clicking sound when swallowing. Slight dizziness and visual disturbances?

Not all related: The popping of the ears can be easily explained by Eustachian tube opening when you swallow. This is absolutely normal and you are just aware of a normal physiological activity. The slight dizziness is too non-specific to comment on. Both of these symptoms are probably not related to the visual disturbance. But certainly consult an eye physician for the latter problem. ...Read more

Septoplasty yesterday morning. Breathe normal until 15 hours post op. Nose 100% blocked up and ears pop when I swallow. Makes me panic/ dizzy. Normal?

Yes, normal: This is caused by swelling both in the nose and in the nasopharynx, the area behind the nose and above the throat. Your eustachian tubes live there and they swell up too, blocking air from getting into your middle ear space. Thus, pressure changes occur in the middle ear space, causing blocked hearing and sometimes pain. ...Read more
