Muscle pain: This is most likely muscle pain and spasm. You can try either ice or heat and see if that helps. If the problem persists, see your doctor.

Many things: Whatever it is, you need to see your doctor. If these are in fact lymph nodes, then you may need to see a surgeon. Possibilities include infection, inflammatory or malignancy. Call your doctor and have him/her feel these areas.

Blocked gland?: A sebaceous cyst is a collection of oily fluid that occurs when an oil gland is blocked. Some folks are more prone to them than other and they often appear on the neck, shoulders, and back. Please see doc for diagnosis because it could be something else more serious an need attention. Peace and good health.

26 yr old. I was playing sport when I started to get a sharp pain under my left shoulder blade. It hurts when I take a deep breath or stretch forward?

Need work up: If this problem is recurrent need investigation tests like MRI to see the intactness of complex scapular muscles. This where your great medical delivery system fails in UK, long wait for this kind of test. But here (USA) you can have it done even today.

What causes a very painful spasm around the left shoulder blade? It hurts to move my neck also.

What causes a very painful spasm around the left shoulder blade? It hurts to move my neck also.

Varies: There are a number of potential causes, from a pinched nerve in the neck to a peri scapular problem such as a subscapular bursitis. A physical exam would usually give a good idea, don't hesitate to be seen.

Hello, I am feeling this crazy tingling under my left shoulder blade. It feels so odd but doesn't hurt. Could it be serious?

Hello, I am feeling this crazy tingling under my left shoulder blade. It feels so odd but doesn't hurt. Could it be serious?

Perhaps not so: Some patients will rarely experience a tingling irritating sensation over the middle of the shoulder blade or even below, and that is a problem locally perhaps secondary to trauma or virus, termed notalgia paresthetica. A thoracic disc may compress an intercostal nerve, and cause symptoms. Probably not a sign of progressive disease, but have your doctor examine it.

Around and under my left shoulder blade is grinding and it hurts, what exactly is grinding?

Varies: There are a number of potential causes. Some people will actually have a osteochondroma in the undersurface of their scapula that can cause grinding as it rubs over the rib cage. Their are many other possibilities. I would not hesitate to be seen for a specific diagnosis.

Hard to say: Did u injure it recently? It sounds from your description that it may be a musculoskeletal issue. See your family practicioner who can begin the work up with a good histroy and physical and if necessary some xrays.

I woke up this morning with a sharp pain below my left shoulder blade. It also hurts when I breath in and gets worse when I move around.

Likely- muscle cramp: With no history of trauma or injury, the most likely cause of pain in the area described is a muscle injury. The intercostal, latissmus, and serratus anterior and rhomboid periscapular muscles could be some og the actual muscles involved. A trial of nsaids, rest, light stretching (when tolerated) should allow for a slef-limiting recovery. If still painful > 7 days seek orthopaedic evaluation.

My left shoulder blade hurts when I move it and when I move it a certain way I have a really sharp pain that takes my breath away. What could it be?

Scapula pain: If there's no history of injury, the pain could be due to a bone spur, bone growth, or pathologic fracture. In any event, I recommend that you consult an orthopedic surgeon and appropriate examination and imaging tests will be done.

Rest, watch and wait: You may let your shoulder rest and watch the symptoms. If the pain is getting better, you may let time take care of it.

See a physician.: You probably have a trapezius strain. You should consult your physician. Your symptoms are caused due to muscle spasm. Your physician can prescribe you some nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication and muscle relaxants and or physical therapy which will help to alleviate your pain.

I have pain on my left shoulder blade that feels like a bruise when touched and just hurts when left alone. Do I need to see a dr right away?

Rest and ice: Pain and tenderness is often from musculoskeletal causes. A pulled muscle or trauma to the area would have to be considered. Associated symptoms such as chest pain or pressure, shortness of breath, pain radiating to the neck or left arm would be more concerning but would be uncommon to cause tenderness over the muscle. A trial of over the counter anti inflammatory medication and rest may help.
