Try benadryl (diphenhydramine): Sounds like you may be having allergies and mucus building up when you lie down. Try propping your head up a bit and taking 25 mg of diphenhydramine (benadryl) at bedtime. Benadryl is an antihistamine that can help with allergies and with sleep.
