May not help: No one likes to see their child suffer and feel the need "to do something" but multiple research studies the last few years have shown cough meds are very ineffective and can harm young children. Try benadryl (diphenhydramine): Sounds like you may be having allergies and mucus building up when you lie down. Try propping your head up a bit and taking 25 mg of diphenhydramine (benadryl) at bedtime. Benadryl is an antihistamine that can help with allergies and with sleep. If that does not help try an medication for reflux like prilosec. If you have reflux sometimes it gets worse when you lie down and causes a cough. ...Read more

Try lying: Face up....do not put your ear (s) on the pillow...Heart beat and other NORMAL sounds produced by your body are heard by "transmission" and your IMAGINATION converts these noises into the sounds you think you hear!
