When I Drink Dry Red Wine My Eyes Are Itchy How Come
Blood vessels dilate: Does this happen with all alcohol or just red wine? Many individuals will have histamine release due to alcohol exposure which results in the flushing. If symptoms are directly related to red wine, the culprit may be the tannins or the sulfates in the wine. Try wine low in tannins or organic sulfate free wine.
Why I get itchy hives after drinking certain alcoholic beverages i.E. Beer, some red wine etc but ok with others?
Tough question: Because wine & beer don't share common ingredients other than alcohol & you tolerate other alcoholic beverages. You might have 2 allergies - hops & something else in wine. Try michelob - supposedly made with rice hops. Is there a pattern to your wine hives - grape variety, region of origin, etc. Or be the designated driver. You may not be the life of the party but you will help save lives.See 1 more doctor answer
After I drink several glasses of red wine, my right calf swells up, my leg aches, and I get an itchy rash behind my knee. What's going on?
Reaction to sulfites: Is possible. Sometimes, more expensive red wines can contain sulfites. I don't know why your left calf will be spared though. Stick with cheap white wine.
Why do my cheeks get red and hot, and my eyes burn, when I drink red wine? This never use to happen to me. Barely started happening recently.
Rosacea?: You may be developing rosacea, a skin disease of unknown cause. It affects about 16 million people and often affects middle aged females of fair complexion. Many triggering factors are known including red wine. I recommend the website, www. Rosacea. Org, which is a national organization devoted exclusively to people affected with rosacea. Also, a dermatologist is an excellent physcian to evaluate.See 1 more doctor answer

She/he may be able to address the issue, If not, the doctor will make a determination of the nature of the lesion and provide an appropriate referral. Anti-allergic: This is an anti-histamine which has some degree of effectiveness (it used to be a prescription only item). It will help with burning and itching that is of allergic origin. Any redness removed will be due to the anti-allergic effectiveness.

I am experiencing itchy eyes, sensation of something in eye, shadow over part of vision and eyelid redness.
Eye symptoms: Your symptoms, especially the shadow over part of vision, indicate the need for you to see an opthalmologist ASAP. You MAY have a retinal tear. Peace and good health.
My Son is experiencing itchy eyes, eyelid redness and red or bloodshot eyes (side: one eye only). Am I able to treat him with maxitrol? We were seen at urgent care 2 days ago and I do not want to have to take him back if at all possible.
Contact lenses: It may not be "normal" but it sure is common. Contact lenses can irritate the eyes due to dryness, allergy or poor material or fit. Sometimes contact lens intolerance can develop. It is important to have the underlying condition treated (allergy etc.) and to be sure that the fit, material and handling are all optimized and to minimize use time if possible.See 1 more doctor answer
I usually have itchy eyes during night and I don't feel to stop itching or rubbing my eyes which makes them red, teary and swollen. What to do?
Allergy Likely: These symptoms are typical from allergic responses. Commonly, these could be from either environmental/seasonal allergy or a contact dermatitis type response (surface flare or inflammation due to coming in direct contact with something you are sensitive to). If basic allergy medications or eye drops do not give adequate relief, see your primary doctor or an allergist or ophthalmologist.See 1 more doctor answer
Allergic reaction: You could have an allergic response to something, whether food, lotions, medications or other. You can trial Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and topical eye drops such as zaditor. You could also have dry skin I suppose too. If you don't respond or get worse, you may need to see a physician who may prescribe oral steroids. Additionally, an exam of your type of skin reaction can lead to clues to the diagnosis. Good luck.See 1 more doctor answer
Could be allergy..: Most of the time eye itchiness signifies allergy in the eye. You can first try cool compresses and artificial tears to wash the allergens out. If that doesn't do the trick, over-the-counter drops like alaway and zaditor (ketotifen) can help (but check with a pediatrician for a 1-1/2 year old).See 1 more doctor answer
