Since last night, my son (15) has been feeling a sharp pain in his chest after drinking. Cold water has been the only thing he's tried. What is this?
See a doctor: Chest pain (CP) is very common in children, and it's uncommon for it to be related to the heart. It can be related to respiratory, musculoskeletal and even GI (Stomach) conditions. Without a complete history and physical exam, it's impossible to give you an accurate diagnosis. Sharp chest pain that hurts more when pushing on the area suggests musculoskeletal, and rest & ibuprofen helps.See 1 more doctor answer
Maybe esophagus: You may be having spasms of your esophagus induced by the cold liquid. That's not a serious problem, but can be painful. If it gets too bad, you may need to see a GI doc and have a test done for diagnosis. Just because it happened after mastectomy doesn't mean that is the cause. Best of luck!
My friend had blood lactate 3.7, after drinking water feels cold chest cavity followed by full body prickles. ER found nothing. What could it be?
Well, the most: Obvious causes of lactic acidosis--severe bleeding, shock, infection, heart failure, CO poisoning, pulmonary embolism--would have been detected by ER. It can be associated with dehydration, severe anemia/leukemia or liver disease (probably also checked by ER), extremely strenuous exercise or overheating, alcohol/antifreeze poisoning, some medicines: INH, metformin. I'm receiving sharp pains underneath the far left side of my chest. When I drink water it kind of relieve the pain. What can I do?
Chest pain: Chest pain of any sort should prompt you to seek medical attention as soon as possible.
Rib sublux?: The drinking water should not have anything to do with the pain, unless you had reflux but this would have been a temporary discomfort. Assuming the pain is continuing you may have slightly dispaced a rib and/or developed inflammation at your rib/sternum joint. Consider seeing a medical doctor or chiropractor for this.

I'm only 13 years old and I just got off of my trampoline with a wrenching pain in my chest. I've been drinking water but it still hurts. Help?
Chest pain: The most likely problem is an acute strain of the muscles of the rib cage. This would be associated with increased pain on motions and probably tenderness at the site of the injury. Treatment would be rest, Tylenol but, if you can take them, anti-inflammatory medications like Advil or Aleve should help. See your physician if pain remains severe or if you have shortness of breath.

Sounds like allergy: Seems you've found something your body's not in agreement with by mouth, inhalation, or direct skin contact. Tried conservative things such as over the counter medications (e.g. Benadryl)? Do you have welts, wheals, or raised bumps anywhere? Seeing a live doctor's best but if you'd like write me: www. After I Eat Food stays in chest for long time even if I drink a glass of water it feels like it is taking very long time to digest.
Acid reflux?: You may have acid reflux -- acid coming up into the esophagus, gastritis -- inflammation of the stomach, or gastroparesis -- a paralysis of the stomach caused by nerve damage. Any of these could make you feel full easily after eating and as if stomach is not emptying. See your doctor and get checked. Good luck!
