When Doctor For Fever
When less than 3 mos: It depends on the age of your child as well as other symptoms. For any baby under 3 months of age, a fever over 100.4 deg F taken rectally is considered a fever and an emergency. When your child is older than that, if they have any other concerning symptoms with the fever such as ear pain, deep cough, trouble breathing, lethargy, or the fever persists, you should call your doctor. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Child with strep still has fever after 5 days on antibiotics. Also has phlemy cough doc prescr inhaler for that, does he need to go to ER for fever?
How long should I wait to go to the doctor with a persistent dry cough, sore throat, and low grade fever? It's been about a week.
It depends...: I think this depends on what type of doctor. From your symptoms the odds are very high that this is a viral infection. Research studies show that antibiotics are likely to do more harm than good. However, herbs, homeopathic medicines and acupuncture may help so if your Dr. offers these it would help to go. I advise trying Umcka, available at health food stores. See http://tinyurl.com/ztoepsy ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Depends: What are the "other symptoms"? They may well be just as important if not more than a fever. If you have a fever over 103 that does not abate with anti-pyretics (aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen) then a visit to the er may be justified. Until then stay hydrated, as fever will dehydrate you quickly. ...Read more
At what point should I take my fiance to the ER if he thinks he has valley fever with all symptoms swaets fever chills headache and sore body?
Not urgent: Valley fever is generally self limiting and not terribly urgent. My concern is that he might have something else. If you think he needs to be evaluated right away, take him to the emergency room. Otherwise get him to see a doctor as soon as possible. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

This : This is difficult to answer since a fever by itself does not necessarily mean that there is something serious. Common viral infections including the flu (influenza) and bacterial strep throat or mononucleosis (mono) can cause a fever of 101. If the person has swollen glands (lymph nodes) in the neck, there is a good possibility that he or she has strep throat or mono (if in a younger age group). If the symptoms persist over the next 1-2 days, he or she should have a throat culture taken to rule out strep throat which can be treated with antibiotics. Certainly, if the fever is accompanied by bad headaches, sob, abdominal pain, or vomiting, he or she should seek prompt attention. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

My 1 yrold has a high fever vomiting no ear or throat infection I took him to the dr and he prescribed amoxilin for fever don't understand why?
Excellent concern: Do to the unfortunate over use and inappropriate use of antibiotics, bacterial resistance is prevalent. Antibiotics should not be prescribed simply for the presence of fever alone. HOWEVER, it is occassionally acceptable to Rx antibiotics with particular patterns of fever (prolonged, increasing in degree with time, association with other physical findings such as pneumonia/bronchitis, etc.) ...Read more
