No "pieces": There are no "pieces" left after an ovarian cyst ruptures. Each month a fluid filled follicular cyst is formed, matures an egg and usually, the fluid is reabsorbed by the body. An "ovarian cyst" occurs when the normal follicle doesn't go away, just enlarges. They are large enough to rupture at about 4 cm, large enough for surgery at 6.
