Generally not: Most cataract surgery is done without stitches in a manner that increased internal pressure in the eye, such as that caused by coughing and vomiting, will only tighten the closure. If you have consistent vomiting, that should be checked out by your family doctor but check with the cataract surgeon first to rule out an eye cause for the vomiting such as bleeding or high pressure within the eye. ...Read more

Short term: Almost all cataract surgery is done under local; the eye protection is to cover the eye during the period when the anesthetic is still in effect to prevent accidentally poking the eye. Cataract surgery may: Have prolonged or late onset inflammation in some individuals. Is the lens felt in the eye after cataract surgery? Surgeon says everything is Ok. I had surgery 10-06. Could I be feeling the new lens and it takes time to get adjusted? No pain.
Inflammation likely: The combination of symptoms and timing make rebound inflammation very likely. If you recently tapered off or stopped your steroid drop typically used after surgery, your inflammation may not have been completely cleared. If this is the case, the inflammation can resurge when the steroid is removed causing pain, soreness, and redness. See your doctor for evaluation and treatment. Good luck! ...Read more

Should my friend be concerned about accumulation of fluid in her eye after cataract surgery? She believes the fluid may result from eye drops she's taking. Those are: bromday, predforte, and vigamox.
She needs to see her surgeon. In the vast majority of cases, there should be no issues like this. How come she can't get ahold of her surgeon? This makes no sense to me. It's a shame that you have to go online to ask this question for your friend instead of having her call her surgeon directly and resolving the issue in minutes.

How can I avoid "dead man" glowing eyes after cataract surgery? Most of my friends who recently had the surgery have eyes that have an eerie glow.
Not possible: What is happening is that our natural lens, under high power, looks like a honeycomb of tiny protuberances which serve to diffuse the light and do not reflect the light. Intraocular lens cannot be made this way, but have a very smooth surface which reflects a little of the light like a mirror - giving that glow you have noticed. This is unavoidable but does not affect the vision. ...Read more
3 months after cataract surgery, now when ever I close my eyes I see light green. Is this normal?
Colors OK: Especially as this appears to be happening in both eyes, I would expect your brain to 'neuroadapt' or gradually get 'used to' the way light now enters your eye. For most patients after cataract surgery, they feel colors are generally more vivid and 'whites are whiter'. However, like getting used to a new pair of glasses these new lenses will take some adjustment over the first 6-12 months. ...Read more
