When Can You Have A Brazilian Wax After A Hysterectomy
I had a laparoscopic appendectomy about 3.5 weeks ago. Only the incision below the navel appears to be healed, is it safe to have a Brazilian wax?

Epilation: Pain! Why would anyone do that? Why not shave the areas you wish to defoliate. It is much easier and painless, and cause none of the problems with filling the tiny holes from which hairs are pulled in waxing. Seriously, shaving hair does not cause it to grow thicker or faster. If it did bald man would shave their heads three times a day! ...Read more

That's because waxing pulls the hairs out by their roots, which weakens the hair follicles, making them less capable of growing normal, strong hair shafts. That's a good result for most people who have such procedures, but if it's not what you want, don't have it done. ...Read more

I just got a Brazilian wax and they put SO much powder 'down there' I'm worried about getting cancer from the talc. How dangerous is this?
I think it's safe: The idea that a small amount of asbestos in talc causes ovarian cancer has been around since I was a med student in the 1970's, and is popular with tort lawyers, but it doesn't make sense and seems only to be supported by studies that invite bias. These are the ones in which anything can cause anything. Stop worrying. ...Read more
Hard to say..: Without actually looking at the irritation in person, but you can try OTC hydrocortisone 2.5% for the itching and (assumed) irritation to see if that helps. You could also try a moisturizing cream as well like Eucerin several times daily to try as well. If no help after 2-3 days, have your doc take a look at it. Best of luck! ...Read more
I had a Brazilian wax about 4 days ago and now the area where she waxed and my upper inside thighs are red burning and itchy.?
Probable allergy: It sounds like you may have had had an allergic reaction to something in the wax or something applied to your skin after the wax. I would try putting 1% Hydrocortisone cream, available over the counter, on the area twice a day. I would not put anything else on it. Sometimes when people are in this situation, their good intentions wind up making things worse. If not better, contact your md. ...Read more
