Wheezing In One Lung
Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more
Great Question: And I have a better answer: unlike the american bison, most mammals have two separate pleural or lung cavities. If one lung collapses, the problem does not usually affect the other side. This is why bison were easy to hunt. If you hit one side of the chest, both lungs could collapse. The picture shows human anatomy, wish i could also post a bison picture as they are majestic creatures. ...Read more

Difficult todiagnose: A chest Xray alone cannot give detailed information about whether a patient has asthma vs. COPD. Many factors must be taken into account. A full set of pulmonary function testing in a physician's office with FEV1, FVC, DLCO etc. and a detailed history and physical examination is the first step. ...Read more

Chesty cough>6wk,X-ray show lung well expanded no collapse/consolidation.licency of lung marking within both upper lobes.is it serious?clear phlegm.
My Daughter is experiencing wheezing (worsened by: breathing in cold air, lying flat, exposure to secondhand smoke, in the evening, at night) .
Secondhand smoke: The most important intervention is the elimination of secondhand smoke. Children who live with smokers have a higher rate of asthma and more severe asthma symptoms. Secondhand smoke spreads throughout a living space so smoking must stop in entire living space. The car also needs to be smoke free. Follow up with doctor as child may still need medication for the wheezing. ...Read more

This is very serious: You need to do whatever it takes to stop smoking now. Otherwise this is your whole future. I doubt you have lung cancer, or that screening saves many lives, but nowadays who gets screened with low-dose CT is politics and you should accept if offered. You may have an acute infection, even pertussis. An antitrypsin level may be in order though with any result smoking cessation is imperative. ...Read more
Had bronchitis or pneumonia for much of last 18 months. Cough up sputum everyday. Wheezing fatigue shortness of breath. COPD or late onset asthma?
Common: Common during pregnancy. You need more oxygen during pregnancy and the body adapts to this. Also as the growing baby/uterus pushes against your diaphragm (muscle of breathing) your breathing might feel more labored. Gerd occurs for the same reason. It also occurs because the hormones make the muscle from the stomach to the esophagus more relaxed, causing reflux. Both reverse after delivery. ...Read more
