Wheezing Cough Cold
My 6 yr old son began coughing 2 days ago. Sounds congested. Waking in his sleep now with wheezing.Had OTC cold/cough+antihistamine. Not helping!
No OTC: I'm not surprised the over-the-counter meds didn't help. Studies have clearly shown they are pretty much a waste of money in kids, and probably just delay appropriate treatment if needed. Many of these things are caused by viruses, but if you are hearing audible wheezing, then your child needs further evaluation to see if prescription medications would be helpful. Don't wait until monday.See 1 more doctor answer
The cough reflex is a protective mechanism that uses muscles in your throat and chest to expel mucous and saliva that may contain pathogens that would otherwise possibly be inhaled via aerosol or to expel pathogens infecting the throat and respiratory system. Cough benefits the host by reducing load and benefits the pathogen which may then spread via aerosol. ...Read more

Had a bad cold for a week & at the end got a cough. Cough has turned into a week of wheezing (unable to breath in/out properly) that won't leave.
Wheezing: It may be that your cold triggered an asthma attack or a chest infection. Be seen by your doctor for assessment and medication. A CXR may be required. All the best.
Im battling cough and colds his week. Why do I make whimpering and wheezing sounds when i sleep? How do I stop?
Bronchitis, asthma?: Do you smoke? This could be from asthmatic bronchitis most likely affected from cold symptoms please see your primary care provider if the wheezing or noisy breathing persist after four to five days of cold symptoms. This could be sign of sleep apnea please talk to your primary care provider regarding this.
I've had a slight cold. Coughing mainly. I don't have asthma but I have a wheezing in my chest along w/a cough. Any suggestions?
It seems like I have a cold, but the symptoms are in my chest only. I don't have a cough and I'm not wheezing. Could I still have bronchitis?
Wheezing: Wheezing is a high-pitched whistling sound usually made while breathing out but in severe cases even with breathing in. Its due to swelling and constriction of the lining of the tubes in the lung. As the air passes through the narrowed passages, a stained whistling noise is made. Happens with allergies or infection. Nasal congection can cause noise (stertor) but its not wheezing. See your doctor.See 1 more doctor answer
2 yr old has a cold accompanied by cough and wheezing. Eating and playing normally. Is the wheezing normal?
Common issue: Many lower respiratory tract infections will trigger wheezing in infants and toddlers. This can vary from minor to so prominent the kid has air hunger and refuses to eat or drink. The tendency tends to decline as the kid grows and diminishes considerably after the age of 5. The older/larger the kid is the more resistant the airways are to this process.See 1 more doctor answer
I cough (chesty cough) when im feeling cold or in very cold environment. I smoke. No sputum/phlegm but a bit of wheezing?
Asthma: Patients with asthma often find that their symptoms of wheezing and/or coughing will be worse in cold air or if they have a cold. Certainly the smoking may also make you more sensitive to irritants or allergens which can trigger symptoms. Stopping smoking and getting on the correct medication will make it easier to control your symptoms.
My daughter, she is 5 year old, she suffring from cough & wheezing sound problem. We can't give any cold and coca products.
Cough and wheeze: Speak you your doctor. Your daughter might need to have treatment with a nebulizer.
Wheeze at the end of a very deep inhale what causes it?also had a cold last week was left with a bad cough wich is slowly starting to go away.
Wheeze: After a bad cold the airways can constrict (get smaller) or spasm - this can cause a wheeze when you exhale or let your breath out. It should resolve if you do not have a history of asthma. You can take some magnesium glycinate from the health food store and this might help to relax your airway. We use this treatment in the emergency room and hospital.
I have a cough with minor wheezing. I have a history of asthma and i know i had a cold before but now I have only the cough. Do i need a inhaler?
2months-breathing is funny.Feels like my bronchi are inflamed and "URGE" to cough, occasional wheeze. Off and on. Cold air worsens. Allergic to air?
Breathing issue.: This could be a number of things. Asthma comes to mind, with shortness of breath being triggered by the coldness of the air, or by irritants or pollutants in the air, or by exertion or activity. Could be allergic rhinitis with a post-nasal drip, which can interestingly cause a cough, breathing trouble and wheeze at times. Do you smoke? Because this could be related to smoking as well.
Had a cough for 30 days, starting to wheeze now. Hurts when cough in my lungs. Not got any cold or flu symptoms. What could it be?
I wheeze when I breathe have no cold/cough or any virus but I do smoke and I am quite unfit is this normal I also get breathless very easily?
Wheezing: Wheezing requires an exam and a good explanation - could be due to smoking, but could also be any one of a number of easily correctable problems including asthma or nocturnal aspiration, etc.... Se your doc to have them listen and consider pulmonary function testing. You have not been smoking long enough to be wheezing related to that....See 1 more doctor answer
