Congratulations!: Wonderful that you have quit smoking; however, it sounds as if you may be having symptoms from the damage that the long term smoking has caused. The great thing is that you quit smoking! Please see a doctor and have a simple peak flow performed; the doctor will have an idea if you have lost lung function. Need more info.: Is this an acute or chronic issue. Do you smoke? Does your job expose you to fumes or smoke? If this is acute, you may need to be considered for acute bronchitis or other lung infection. If chronic, then you may need to be evaluated for asthma or emphysema. All from heartburn: Heartburn can mimic asthma and allergies and produce a cough through something called laryngopharyngeal reflux, which is an extension of gastroesophageal reflux (fancy name for heartburn).
