Combination of meds: Yes, they can. However, it's best to reduce the dose of citalopram to 20mg. citalopram and wellbutrin (bupropion) are in different classes thus they have different mechanisms of action. You can liken it to cream AND sugar in your coffee. ok with one or the other but maybe better with both. I'd be concerned: Definitely discuss the combination w/ your Dr - ALL three are risky in combo w/ the others. On top of serotonin syndrome, the Wellbutrin (bupropion) in combo can cause seizures and other bad things. If needed, the risk may be necessary but if there are options, this is not a good one. NO: Usually people with anxiety D/O's are more sensitive to side effects. Antidepressants that modulate anxiety (Wellbutrin (bupropion) is not one of them) need to be started and up titration at much smaller dosages. I.e.
