Swelling is a very non-specific symptom and the degree of swelling can cause the tingling you describe. There are a variety of illnesses that can cause swelling in the hands and feet. Some bacterial or viral infections can cause a condition called reiter's syndrome that can affect the joints. Other causes of swelling can be an inefficient heart or inadequate elimination of fluids by the kidneys. A couple of particularly severe conditions are post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis and gonorrhea. While it is unlikely to have clots on both sides, upper extremity deep venous thrombosis can happen and can cause clots to travel to the lungs (pulmonary emboli). It is a chemical that is sprayed on the inert herbs, as a result it is not evenly distrubuted there may be higher "pockets" of the chemical on some of the herbs thus causing adverse effects. Color changes: What changes do you see? Do they turn white in the cold? This suggests raynauds. Are they more uncomfortable in the cold? In the heat? With certain activities? Is the circulation good. Are eh feet also cold? Does this occur in your relative? Dr hines suggested thyroid. You need a good evaluation.
