I hit my eye with my finger yesterday, and now one side of that eye is red. Should I be worried or not?

Hemorrhage: You probably bumped a vein in the conjunctiva and it leaked a tiny spot of blood underneath which will spread in that space so it looks worse than it is. If you vision is fine and you have no pain or discharge, that is by far the most likely thing and you can just wait for it to absorb although it might spread a little bigger before than happens. ...Read more

Every morning I wake up with runny nose, sneezes, watery red eyes, I keep my room dust free, windows closed. Happens more with cold temp. Treatment?

Allergies?: Have you been tested for allergies? Besides dust, other possibilities include dust mites, feathers (in your pillow), mold (in your carpet), etc. You can see your primary care physician to get tested (immunocap = very reliable blood test) and treated; prescriptions or over the counter meds may help you, including oral antihistamines, topical treatments (eye drops, nasal sprays). ...Read more

I dusted, vaccumed, used vapor rub, cleaned nose took bath still smell dust, tickle in throat, eyes itch, chest hurts, face itches, inner ears itch.?

Allergies: This sounds like you have some allergies. Dust in homes can be tainted with lead dust, cockroach dander, pet dander, cigarrette smoke, among other toxins and allergic offenders. You need a whopping dose of antihistamine now, say 10 mg cetirizine by mouth. I am worried a little about your chest pain, especially if you have asthma. Do you have an albuterol inhaler at home with spacer? ...Read more

I sat on and touched something wet on my pants and then cleaned my eyes using those fingers. I am worried about transmission of STDs via eyes/nose.?

Hard to know: Hmmm. Depends what the wet substance was. It's easy to infect eyes with just about anything that can call conjunctival mucosa (eye membranes) moistened by tear fluid, home. Remember, some microbes survive even on dry surfaces (staph, enveloped viruses) which means theoretically, you could infect your eyes even before touching that fluid. Infections can damage vision. Get prompt care if concerned. ...Read more

Sometimes my ears itch so much, I would pick my ear with my finger. If I pick too deep, my eye on that side would turn teary and red. Why? Side effect?

Sometimes my ears itch so much, I would pick my ear with my finger. If I pick too deep, my eye on that side would turn teary and red. Why? Side effect?

Protective response: This is due to a nerve reflex that serves to protect the delicate mechanics of the eyes and ears. It is harmful to aggressively itch the inner ear. a better strategy will be to identify the source of itching (eg allergy, skin disease in the ear canal, irritant exposure, systemic disease etc) and treat it. ...Read more

I put abreva on my oral herpes, and 30 min later I touched my eyelid with same finger. Is it possible my eye (lid) is effected with hsv-1?

Spreading HSV 1: Yes, it is possible. You must be very careful after touching any active herpetic lesions. It is not uncommon these days to see HSV 1 or 2 in places we used to not see them. If you start having any pain or redness or visual changes in that eye I would be checked by an eye doctor. ...Read more

Can I take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) while taking rantandine, Prilosec, amoxicillin? I was cleaning and dust made eyes red and allergy in nose

Can I take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) while taking rantandine, Prilosec, amoxicillin? I was cleaning and dust made eyes red and allergy in nose

Lot of meds: If you were cleaning, and exposed to dust mites that you might be allergic to, it's better if you can use lubricating eye drops, or something non-medicinal to help you. Even showering and washing your hair to remove the dust mite exposure would be very beneficial. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) will have a drying effect on your mucous membranes, and make you feel drowsy. With so much medications on board, sometimes less is more. ...Read more

Husband is not circumcised and the head of his penis is peeling. You can rub your finger over it and the skin will come off.?

Not to worry: This is a type of eczema. Have him try to rub in 1% Hydrocortisone cream 2 times each day. In addition, whenever he baths and the area is soaking wet, while still wet, rub in vasaline petroleum jelly for 30 seconds then towel dry. This condition is most likely chronic and will always come back. But if you do the above treatments, he should do well when it occurs. ...Read more

Phlebitis: Supeficial one. Usually resolves with local treatment of the inflammation with warm compresses and anti-inflammatory medications such as advil or aleve (naproxen). Having said that I would like also to tell you that sometimes superficial phlebitis can be associated with deep vein thrombophlebitis which is dangerous. So, see your doctor for a medical evaluation. ...Read more

Small hard bump on my finger, small pin head size. It was red and is now black and sore when pressed. Looks like small mole under a few layers of hard skin. Had for months. Turned black last 2-3 weeks.?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining the lesion. What you described suggests a wart. You may wish to try over the counter treatment for a wart, if that does not help, it would be useful to see a doctor.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Touched eye after handling raw chicken. Tear duct is sore almost a week later. No redness. Could this resolve on its own? Anything to watch for?

Touched eye after handling raw chicken. Tear duct is sore almost a week later. No redness. Could this resolve on its own? Anything to watch for?

Yes: The difficult problem is knowing what you mean by sore tear duct. The inner corner of your eyelid has a drainage hole (punctum) that allows tears to drain into your nose via nasolacrimal duct. If you had an infection from the chicken, I'd expect much more yellowish discharge from eyeball. However if you're very tender in the corner with eyelid redness/swelling, get it checked by Eye MD.? antibiotc ...Read more

Allergies?: What you describe sounds like his nose and eyes itch, and rubs his nose and eyes, and squints to try and relieve the itch. If there is a family history of allergies, such as hay fever, asthma or eczema, then it is more likely to be that. A visit to his pediatrician will help sort things out for you. ...Read more

My left eye was itching, and I rubbed it badly with my finger. It hurts me but not so bad, should I be worried? Does it reshape my eye or make it bad?

No Reshaping, but…: Whenever anyone rubs their eyes vigorously, they could inadvertently scratch there eyes minutely with their fingernail.
