What Would Cause Sharp Pains In My Upper Arm Every Time A Drink Cold Liquids
Referred pain: The cold liquid is irritating the lining to the esophagus/stomach and it is causing a referred pain into the arm. Similar to a heart attack causing pain in the arm. If you have always had this, I wouldn't be concerned. If this is relatively new, you actually might have stomach ulcerations and/or esophageal irritation - again. If new in onset - get it checked by a GI specialist. ...Read more

Dull, achy pain in my left breast. Recently I noticed pain whn drinking water sometimes and it radiates down my left arm. What could cause this?
Strange: If the pain only occurs when drinking then the source of pain is most likely in the digestive system although the breast is an odd place to have pain from this. I'd start with a primary care doctor for a beast exam and evaluation and then see a gastroenterologist if needed. ...Read more
After drinking a cocktail burning pain in right shoulder between neck and shoulder tip and down right arm. What causes this? Pcp says not heart.
Shoulder pain: If you are right handed and were drinking the cocktail with your right hand, it may well be a cause in your shoulder such as impingment or the trapezius muscle causing pain. It is not likely to be the cocktail. It may even have origin in your cervical spine with a pinched nerve for example. Please get evaluated if symptoms continue ...Read more

Insect bites: Insect bites usually show up as a bump with red around the edges. Usually there is not a lot of liquid that squirts out. If the bump resolves on its own, then likely it was an insect bite. If it worsens, continues to drain liquid, gets larger or more painful, then you should have a physician evaluate it. ...Read more

I tend to drink coffee and green tea a lot, yesterday I had bad pains in my left arm and wondered if the caffeine can do that. Do I need to cut back?
Careful w Caffeine:
Could caffeinated coffee and tea cause pain in your left arm?
Probably not. More likely musculoskelal in origin.
However they are mildly stimulating and might increase heartrate and palpitations. If for some reason you have Angina or heart ischemia you might get referred arm pain. Need to be careful to exclude heart problems before saying for sure.

I think I tore my right arm muscle while stretching, every time I move it or do simple tasks I feel this sharp pain in the middle of my shoulder?
Shoulder problem: Your problem could be muscular but it sounds more like the shoulder joint itself. You can try not lifting, pushing, or pulling with the involved shoulder. You could try applying warm packs to it two or three times a day. Adding a medication like Aleve (naproxen) could help if you can safely take this medication - no allergy to this class med or stomach or kidney problems. If pain persists see MD for eval. ...Read more
Wow. .. that's an: Unusual association! One might speculate that a change in position in your low back/lumbar spine when you sit on the toilet might cause some nerve compression but it's hard to imagine this effect in the upper spine where nerves to arms/hands exit. Perhaps this is a valsalva (push to urinate) effect, though hard to imagine, too. I can only suggest discussion with your doctor/probably a Neurologist ...Read more
I have chest pains and pain in my left arm and back till I drink alcohol.... Why does the drinking make me feel normal? I also feel light headed
You need evaluation: I have no idea what the pain is, or why drinking alcohol makes it better, but you need to talk to your doctor. Hypertension in a 22 year old man is distinctly abnormal, and if your doctor has not tested you for more unusual causes of hypertension (coarctation of the aorta, primary hyperaldosteronism, renal artery stenosis and others), you should be tested for these. Talk to him about drinking also. ...Read more

Referred pain: Assuming you've had your heart checked out and all is well, it may indeed be gerd (reflux, or heartburn) or an ulcer. Coffee is known for decreasing the tension of the sphincter separating the esophagus and stomach, allowing liquid to flash back up into the esophagus. Nerves that supply the esophagus (as well as heart, gall bladder, and diaphragm) can refer pain to the arm (or shoulder or jaw). ...Read more
Is there a serious problem with my arm as to why it has a "weak" feeling to it? I had gone to a party a few days ago and maybe had a little too much too drink. When I had woken up, I recuperated fine as I usually do. But, I noticed a day later that my rig
"weak" is a rather vague symptom that can have different meanings. Do you notice any lack of ability to extend your wrist and fingers? Do you feel like it might be difficult to push off a chair by extending your elbow? Is it just weak or is there numbness, too?
One condition that can cause such symptoms after drinking is "saturday night palsy." it happens because a nerve in the upper arm, the radial nerve, gets pinched, usually from slumping over a chair back. The symptoms may take several days to resolve, but they should be getting better.
If your nerve symptoms are persistent or getting worse, then you need a good neurologic evaluation, either by an orthopaedic or hand surgeon or by a neurologist. It could be your symptoms are merely coincidental with the party and there is something wrong with your nerves. A few times a year I see ulnar nerves (funny bones) stop working and the hand becomes very weak very quickly. These can be difficult to get to recover and need to be addressed early to save the muscles in the hand. Most patients with this tell me their hands feel clumsy. ...Read more

No: And if you get this every time you drink, but you still drink, then I have some concerns about you. Talk to your doctor - numbness in an arm can mean nerve damage or problems in the chest cavity as well. Why it would occur only when you drink alcohol I have no idea, but the fact that you get an adverse effect but still drink concerns me that there is an alcohol problem.
