Complex kidney cyst biopsy can be deadly?

Complex kidney cyst biopsy can be deadly?

Stop worrying: The worst that can happen is some heavy-duty bleeding and a trip to the operating room. A fraction of a percent of kidney biopsies are followed by this adventure, but I'd be much more worried about not having a tissue diagnosis on that cyst. ...Read more

Kidney cyst or tumor?, most likely? Too small 2 biopsy rt now, but blood work reported kidney not working so great & high potassium level in blood?

Difficult to say.: The best test for determining a cyst or tumor by imaging is a ct scan with contrast. If your kidney function is poor, this may not be possible since contrast can adversely affect the kidneys. Work with a urologist to determine the best type of imaging (ultrasound, mri, etc.) & a schedule to follow the mass over time. In the meantime, work to find ways to improve or stabilize your kidney function. ...Read more

How significant is the finding of protein in the urine in a child? If the child has a complex kidney cyst? Repeat sample 1st morning urine showed none

How significant is the finding of protein in the urine in a child? If the child has a complex kidney cyst? Repeat sample 1st morning urine showed none

Not very significant: Children frequently "spill" small amounts of protein in their urine when they are very active during the day from their high metabolism and rapid muscle growth. That's why we then check a first morning urine sample. If there is no protein with the morning urine, nothing to worry about at this time. I check a yearly urine sample on these kids, but otherwise no restrictions or reasons to worry. ...Read more

Can a simple kidney cyst change to a complex malignant cyst?

Can a simple kidney cyst change to a complex malignant cyst?

No.: Simple cysts are common and at your age 1 or 2 found in your kidneys are not worrisome. A simple cyst is not cancerous but if injury to that cyst leads to small bleeding within it, it can look "complex", meaning it is not easily distinguished from something more concerning such as cancer. These cysts warrant closer monitoring. Hope this helps! ...Read more

Atypical v simple: Simple cyst is a sac that contains clear liquid. It is usually benign. Atypical means non-typical. The contents here are not clear. It may contain old blood, fatty tissues, or solid tissue. It is harmless: Cysts in the kidneys are very common. They are benign and therefore do not require regular follow up. Your cyst has grown some small amount but it is of no consequence. Unless you have some symptoms you do not need and regular follow up at least no sooner than every 2-3 years, that too if you have symptoms. ...Read more
