Is it normal to pass tissue-like things on first period day? They don't look like clots. Just dark red stringy tissue

Don't know your age?: Menarche usually occurs between ages 11 & 13 in the US. However for some their period could start as early as age 9 & for others not until 16. Advise them that the process is normal and not harmful, educated them on how much and for how long they should expect bleeding, and teach proper hygiene. Make sure they know to change their pads frequently to avoid the embarrassment of leaking blood through their clothing. Have them go about their normal activities, including school and sports.
