In regards to retinal detachment, symptoms are red eye, blurry vision, black spots and lights, pain at times, noticeable dimness all in one eye only
Guarded Prognosis: Pain and red eye usually aren't associated with retinal detachment unless it is chronic or unless the eye has inflammation and the detachment is caused by a fluid build-up instead of a hole. Given your history there are other things that can dim vision, such as a blocked vessel. You should be carefully evaluated by a retina specialist to optimize your chances of recovery. I did a 20 min intense workout today 11:45-12:30 and after about 1 hour I experienced a blurry vision spot and wasn't able to focus on reading for about 25 minutes. Blood preasure was 137/68 with 81 pulse. Any ideas on cause or steps I should take?
Have a thorough eval: Good evening. Because the possibilities are numerous, you should really contact your doctor for further eval. Several causes readily come to mind (like a transient ocular migraine), but there are many other possibilities such as a problem with the circulation to your retina. Please contact your doctor. Best of luck.
I've been tapering off citalopram 20mg. 1week 15mg, and now on 10 mg for 2 days. Started having blurry spots in my vision - is this normal?
Visual changes may: Occur during citalopram withdrawal. If problematic slow the taper and consult prescriber. Generally longer use requires longer taper if withdrawal effects occur: vision changes, runny nose, trouble sleeping/breathing, agitation, chest pain, confusion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, fast heartbeat, headache, excess sweating, muscle pain, restless, trembling, unusual tiredness/weakness.
I keep seeing bright spots in my vision even when I close my eyes and having headaches almost everyday. What causes this?
Insufficient data: Please repost and include how long this has been going on, how long it lasts each time, and whether you have a diagnosis of migraine headaches.
I see blurry black spots in my vision, which follow my eye movement. I notice them if I keep my head still when moving my point of sight. Is it bad?
Floaters: You are seeing protein deposits suspended in the fluids at the back of the eye. You can see them prominently if you stare at a white (no pictures) video screen and move your eyes a little. These are common in older folks as the vitreous gel ages. It is worthwhile having an ophthalmologist get a peek at your eyes if you are seeing these at your young age.
Migraine: If symptoms last between 15-30 minutes and completely resolve this is most likely an ocular migraine. If there is a headache afterward, it is considered a visual aura as part of a classic migraine event. If this is the first time you've had such symptoms, see an internist or ophthalmologist.See 1 more doctor answer
Electricvision spots: There are a few causes but 99% are innocent. There is even a common phenomenon where almost everyone sees little streaks of moving dots. Mostly it is often many moving dots. Sometimes it can remind patients of almost seeing a meteor shower but the brief shooting stars move all different ways. Those symptoms are frequent & common and innocent. You are just seeing the white blood cells in circulation
Migraine?: I suspect a migraine aura which you could see at night or day. If you've never experienced this symptom before, make an appointment to see an eyeMD to reassure your eyes are okay. If you have other symptoms such as headache, nausea, vomiting medications may be prescribed if particularly frequent and severe. You take Depakote for seizure disorder I presume, so it is advisable to talk to your PCP.
I sometimes see floating dark spots. Vision is normal 6/12 with cylindrical lenses for correction. What is the cause? Any action needed?
What causes random stints of sparkles/firefly looking spots of light all over your vision that only last for a few seconds maybe a minute tops?
Floaters: Could be caused by cellular debris floating in the vitreous gel of the eye. A dilated eye exam called indirect ophthalmoscopy should be performed by your ophthalmologist to make sure that there is not a treatable condition.
