What Type Of Specialist Handles Lap Band Surgery
General Surgeon.: General surgeons perform the surgery to place the lap band. Some of these general surgeons have undergone fellowship training (1 year) in bariatric surgery to learn these techniques as well as other types of weight loss operations (gastric bypass, duodenal switch, etc.). There is no separate board certification process outside of that for general surgeons through the american board of surgery.See 2 more doctor answers
Special Blood Test: Unfortunately, there is no 100% diagnostic test to confirm vagal nerve injury. Gastric emptying studies are often ordered but are notoriously unreliable. The best test is measurement of pancreatic polypeptide (pp) after Insulin administration. Normal secretion of pp is mediated by the vagus nerve in response to low blood sugar. If the vagus is injured, the pp level remains low after insulin.See 3 more doctor answers
Not first option: See your doctor will refer you to weight loss centre near you, after work up first will try non operative medical measures ; treatments, if you really want to loose weight and work with them you will, if your fail then prepare you for right surgery for you. Best benefits are obtained by following the protocol of that institute
Lap band: Slower weight loss, lower total weight loss, high failure rate, 20-30% lifetime re operation rate, it can cause reflux (the gastric bypass cures this), it can cause esophageal dysmotility, the band can slip/prolapse, the band can erode or cut into the stomach, the band can leak, the port can flip. It is however, the safest weight loss operation, and it is reversible.See 1 more doctor answer

Lap band: Can't answer that in such a short space. I spend an hour discussing that with new patients. You need to meet the bmi requirements first. If you do, you may then be a candidate for surgery. If you are, the next question is which operation is best for you. Just because you want a lap band doesn't mean that is the right operation for you. See http://www. Lapband. Com/ http://www. Realize. Com/.See 1 more doctor answer
Lap band: Before surgery, you should try to eat healthy and lose some weight (which will make surgery easier). Also want to do this because it is how you should be eating the rest of your life if you want to keep the weight off. After surgery, you usually start on liquids only and progress to solid food over the course if a month.See 1 more doctor answer
Yes: If you meet requirements and the state you are in offers it as a covered benefit.See 1 more doctor answer
Here are some...: This Q has been longstanding with no answering. Despite not an expert in bariatrics, based on my lifelong digestion of medical knowledge coupled with common sense, I could not see any interaction between both through uneventful lap band surgery since minimal change disease denotes the usually uneventful kidney changes from various reasons. No: If you are having stomach problems after your lap-band you should see your bariatric surgeon to find out what the problem is. Stomach problems including vomiting and nausea or pain are not normal after any weight loss surgery and should be investigated, explained, and corrected.See 2 more doctor answers
Who cares?: The popularity of a procedure doesn't mean it's the right procedure for you. Your choice should be made by you and your bariatric surgeon based on many factors. So have a consult with a Bariatric Surgeon recommended by your PCP
