I have a pain in my lower right ab. I had my appendix removed 14 yrs ago. What type of doc should I see? Urologist? Gastroenterologist?

Start w/ primary MD: See your primary doctor first. Some types of abdominal pain can be diagnosed and treated by them, and if not, they will be able to direct you to the appropriate specialist, depending on their findings. I have an enlarged appendix, should I worry about it, my doctor said that I'm fine?

Enlarged appendix: I don't know what test you had done that said your appendix is large. A CT scan can usually show if is suspicious of anything to be concerned about. Although it's rare, an enlarged appendix can indicate a problem. You could have a mucocele or a benign or malignant tumor such as a carcinoid. Colonoscopy can see the opening of the appendix and if you haven't had one, see a gastroenterologist ...Read more

Male age 26 I had pain 15 days back for one night and vomitted whole night. Next day I was alright and no pain till now. Doctor says it is appendix?

Appendicitis: Appendicitis can be highly variable in its symptoms from one person to another. Typically it is mid abdominal pain that moves to the right lower abdomen over 24-48 hours getting worse, associated with nausea and not wanting to eat. But not everyone follows the same pattern. I have had severe pain and doctors confirmed it was my appendix, it has not ruptured what are the chances it will later in time?

Sounds "Fishy": In all but the most unusual circumstances, appendicitis is an acute illness that progresses to rupture if left untreated w/in days of onset; the operation is an emergency, performed asap. If you are well enough to be going online to inquire, somehow I sense this is not being treated as an emergency, which makes me question the certainty of the diagnosis. I advise a 2nd opinion w/a general surgeon. ...Read more

I recently had a colonoscopy. Everything was fine, but the doc thinks I have a cyst on my appendix. I have to have a scan. Should I worry?

Cyst: If further imaging is diagnostic of an appendicial cyst, an abdominal surgeon should be consulted for options. Had sharp lrq adomen pain for 3 weeks. Doc thinks maybe grumbling appendix an sending me for scan. How likely will I need my appendix out? What is it?
