Many things: First i would recommend you see a dentist to find out why they are bleeding and see what the recommended treatment is. At home, regular brushing 2-3x/day, flossing, and rinsing with an antibacterial mouthwash will help. It usually takes 2-3 weeks of regular maintenance to notice a change in the gums.
