What To Take For Allergic Skin Reaction
Nearly everyday I have an allergic skin reaction which gives red dots over my skin, what can I do?!
Allergic rash: Given the limited information (where is the rash, what triggers it, is it itchy, does it go away within a short period of time, etc.), i would suggest that an allergy evaluation might be helpful if there is a suspicion that foods or environmental triggers are responsible. There may be other causes for the rash, in which case seeing your internist and having a physical with lab tests may be needed. ...Read more
Can allergic skin reaction (1st bright red now brown & scabbing) can leave the skin permanently hyperpigmented or with brown marks?will it resolve?
Depends: Allergic reactions can cause skin hyperpigmentation. Depending on what caused the reaction (contact allergy or hives or irritant reaction or drug rash), the hyperpigmentation may or may not resolve. Hyperpigmetation can fade over time if there is no repetitive skin irritation. Scabbing and oozing can be signs of infection, kindly have the rash evaluated if it doesn't resolve. ...Read more

Probably not: Allergic reaction r usually mediated by an antibody called ige in the body. Ige has to bind usually large molecules, such as proteins to cause an allergic reaction. Water molecule is very small. It will not be recognized by human ige. So no one will be truly "allergic" to water. In the rare cases of aquatic urticaria, contact of skin to water can trigger hives, but not a true allergic process. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

My dr prescribed Claritin (loratadine) for a skin reaction, but its no longer effective. Can I take a second dose so I can get a decent night's sleep?
Claritin (loratadine): Rather than doubling the dose of Claritin (loratadine) it may be wiser to try a different antihistamine until you can get back in and be seen. Not knowing what the condition is it is difficult to know exactly what to do. I suspect this may be chronic hives. There are certainly other things to do if it is. You may want to see an Allergist, ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
