Fluids/monitor: Your 7mo is due for 5-7 uri's/yr to age 5 & most can be monitored at home. Playful times/fluid intake enough to wet diapers every 6hr/breathing not too noticable all suggest home care ok. Lack of play/noticable incresaed work to breathe/poor fluid intake all suggest a dr visit in order.Nasal saline helps keep the nose clear & tylenol as a comfort med may help. ...Read more

RSV: Respiratory syncytial virus is most often seen from dec to mar but can be seen at any time. More often in premature and the very young <12 weeks old. Can be associated with day care. Most symptoms are fever, runny nose, cough, wheezing trouble breathing and loss of appetite. Any young infant with fever should be evaluated. How does he look?: If he is alert, is willing to drink some fluids, wants to cuddle with you and have you read to him that favorite book, he does not need a doctor tonight. Fever is not a disease that needs treatment - it is just one of many symptoms that something is going on. At his age, likely a virus, but if he is not acting right or fever persists, then call your doc tomorrow for further advice. Drink lots! ...Read more

Cold: symptoms as you described will make a baby fussy as they do not like nasal congestion. It does not sound like your baby has an ear infection. Just observe for now and offer comfort as you can. A cold should resolve in a few days and until it does expect a crabby baby. ...Read more

They could...: Symptoms usually peak on day 3-4, and the cough can worsen and hang around for weeks. This may be decreased by the tamiflu.
